Stuart Rutter: / / (mucked)
We only caught the very tail end of the hand, and the cards were as above. Andrew Robl was elminated, Linda Johnson upped her stack to 155,000, and Stuart Rutter, who'd moved into the chip lead, dropped a little to 255,000.
"I got lucky," said Johnson, "I won't lie."
Table neighbour David Chiu: "Nobody ever won a tournament who didn;t get lucky."
We didn't see the hand, but we saw Joe Hachem let out an almighty sigh as his former chips were shipped over to Frank Kassela. A railer told him, "Unlucky," and he headed dejectedly for the payout room to collect his 22nd place money.
Steve Diano completed for 4,000 and Joe Hachem bumped it to 8,000 only to have Allen Bari move all in for 11,800. Diano called and Hachem raised it once again with Diano calling.
Diano fired out on fourth, fifth and sixth street with Hachem calling the whole way only to have seventh checked through.
Joe Hachem bet out on fifth street and called a raise from Frank Kassela. Undeterred by the raise, he bet out again on sixth street too. Kassela just called.
Hachem checked the river and then called a bet from Kassela, but mucked when Kassela showed him the wheel.
"Wow, what a game," sighed Hachem.
"First one I've had all day," Kassela told him. "Good time to get it."
Kassela moved into firm big stack status, on 208,000. Hachem dropped to a below-average 86,000.
