Matusow Trying not to Explode

Mike Matusow had been raised out of a few pots and had begun cursing under his breath when Erick Lindgren said, "It's a good thing there is only one you buddy, the world can't handle two of you."

Matusow agreed, saying that he is unparalleled in being able to handle how bad he runs. After dropping a few more f-bombs, Matusow said that he'd be cool again in no time.

Goodbye Ivey

Phil Ivey no more
Phil Ivey no more

Pot-Limit Omaha

Phil Ivey walked by us on his way back to the tournament and then no more than a minute later walked right past us on the way back out the door. We went over to his table where Steve Wong informed us that he just busted Ivey from the tournament.

Wong raised under the gun with the {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and Ivey called from the big blind. After the flop came {8-}{5-}{3-} rainbow, Ivey led for the pot and then Wong re-potted. Ivey called and was all in. He held the {7-}{6-}{5-}-X for a pair and a straight draw. The turn was a tena nd the river a king which didn't help Ivey and he was sent to the rail. Wong's now up to 17,000 in chips.

The Master Out

No-Limit Hold'em

Men "The Master" Nguyen was just eliminated on one of the first hands back from break at his table. When we got to the table, Nguyen was yelling out and making his way to the exit while his opponent's hand of {K-}{K-} had made a set on the turn and quads on the river.

This Will Be a Long One

So, there was just an announcement made about the restart for this event tomorrow. The tournament staff announced that because of the WSOP Tournament of Champions event that kicks off tomorrow, this event won't restart until 4:10 p.m. instead of 3:00 p.m. Also, only nine levels will be played tomorrow instead of ten. This means that Day 3 will more than likely be super, super long when they have to play down to a winner. Most of the events this year have come back for their third and final day with many more players than a final table. Only playing nine levels on Day 2 now will result in even more players returning for Day 3 when the schedule is slated to play all the way down to a winner.

Traniello Takes Control, Chips

Stud

Traniello: (X)(X) / {8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Opponent: (X)(X) / {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

We arrived on fourth street just in time to see Marco Traniello check-call a bet from his opponent. Traniello also check-called on fifth street. He chose to lead out with a bet on sixth street, though, and took down the pot when his opponent folded.

Stud 8/b

Traniello: {2-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} / {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Opponent: (X)(X) / {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades} / (X)

Not too long afterwards, Traniello was involved in another pot where he bet on third and fourth streets with his opponent making the call both times.

Traniello's opponent caught the best visible hand on fifth street and made a bet with Traniello raising, and then calling a re-raise.

Action was once again plentiful on sixth street with Traniello's opponent catching two visible pairs and betting. Traniello raised, and his opponent called. The river didn't induce any action with both players checking.

When betting was done, Traniello tabled a better two-pair. With no lows, he scopped the pot when his opponent mucked.

Lester and Mercier Chop

Stud-8

Valdemar Kwaysser: (X)(X) / {A-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} - fold
Jason Mercier: (X)(X) / {7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{8c]{A-Clubs} / (X)
Jason Lester: (X)(X) / {5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades} / (X)

Kwaysser checked fourth street to Mercier, who bet out. Lester raised and then Kwaysser folded. Mercier made the call. On each street to follow, Mercier led the betting with Lester calling.

Mercier showed the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} from his holecards for queens full of eights. Lester held the {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and made a 8-7-5-4-3 low and the two chopped up the pot.

Both Lester and Mercier have a little over 11,000 in chips.

Mizzi Slips

Razz

Sorel Mizzi: (X)(X) / {6-}{q-}{j-}
Opponent: (X)(X) / {a-}{5-}{3-}

Sorel Mizzi has found himself down to just 2,800 chips. His most recent setback occurred when he raised an opponent's completion in a Razz hand and called a bet on fourth street only to wind up with two high cards on fifth street. By the time his opponent bet fifth street, Mizzi's hands were already half-way to the muck.
