Becker Smashes a Double

Jeff Becker opened with a late-position raise, and Alex Bolotin shoved on him from the blinds. Becker got his last 17,300 additional chips into the pot, and he was behind but drawing live to survive:

Becker: {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts}
Bolotin: {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

Bolotin should have known better than to go up against the unbeatable king and axe. The board ran {J-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {K-Spades} {5-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}, pairing only Becker and notching his double up. He's back over 40,000, and Bolotin has slipped down to 43,000 himself.

Petersen Doubles Up Two

Jesper Petersen was the biggest stack in a three-way all in at Table 359, but his {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} was the worst of the three hands. Getty Mattingsley, the shortest stack, was all in with {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Matthew Chang, the middle stack, had the middle hand with {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. The board rolled out no help to anyone, {6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, giving Mattingsley a triple-up. Chang collected the side pot, and Petersen got nothing.

Broken Chainsaw

Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler - Out
Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler - Out

Sida Yuen opened to 2,800 under the gun, and action folded around to the button. There, Allen Kessler announced an all in for 11,300, and Yuen cut out the call. When he learned the number, he slid them into the pot, and The Chainsaw was at risk of elimination. But ahead:

Kessler: {10-Clubs} {10-Spades}
Yuen: {A-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}

Kessler stared down at the rail, unable to watch as the dealer ran out a board of {2-Clubs} {A-Spades} {4-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {5-Spades}. When he heard the fifth card hit the felt, he peeked up and threw his hands up in the air. Shaking his head, he stood up, slid his chair under, and quietly wished his table luck as he headed out the door.

Potter Out

Jason Potter was barely in his seat before he was permanently out of it. He re-raised all in for about 22,000 after Justin Pechie opened for 2,800. Pechie only had about 27,000 himself and called with {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}, a hand dominated by Potter's {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}. Of course, hold'em being what it is, the flop came queen-high, {10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Spades}, to give Pechie the best hand. The board blanke out the rest of the way, making Potter the first elimination of the day.

Brief Delay

In the three-ring circus that is the WSOP, changes happen on the fly all the time.

Our event has been moved back to the Red section of the Amazon Room as originally scheduled, and it's taking a few extra minutes to get everyone transitioned over here. Most of the players are in their seats now, and they've been given the one-minute call.

We should be rolling in just a moment.

Third Chance, Second Day

Welcome back to Event #51 for Day 2 of the $3,000 Triple Chance No-Limit Hold'em closest-thing-you'll-find-to-a -rebuy event. A field of 965 players started this thing yesterday at noon, and 175 of them will be back today to press on into the money and toward the final table.

David Singer was the runaway chip leader for the last two-thirds of Day 1, and he had almost a 100,000-chip lead as the last few hands of the night were called. If not for Tommy Vedes, Singer would still have his mugshot atop the scoreboard, but the former put on a late charge to steal that spot just as the clock ticked down to zero. Vedes magically found pocket aces on the last two hands of the night, and he used them to tally two knockouts, moving his count up to 237,100 and setting the pace for Day 2. Singer is close behind with 204,100.

We're scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. restart and a look at the table draws hints at some good action today. We've got Gavin Griffin and James Akenhead in the hunt, and Will "The Thrill" Failla, Mike Sowers, and Jonas Kronwitter lurk in the shadows of the big stacks as well.

Our restart has been moved back to the Pavilion today, and there are already signs of life in the empty half of the room. The dealers are in their chairs suiting and double-checking their decks. We should get under way right on time, so don't wander off on us.

We'll be back with the shuffle up and deal in just a bit.
