How To Play PLO By Mike The Mouth

"This is how I play PLO," laughed Mike Matusow, "I min-raise in the dark!"

And that's exactly what he did. Matusow made it 200 from under the gun and found three callers. He then peeked at his cards and chuckled, "Wow, not a bad hand to raise in the dark!"

The flop fell {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and action checked around before the {K-Hearts} fell on the turn. Matusow fired out 425 and the table folded around as Matusow flashed pocket aces! He's at 20,125 in chips but has no safety net as all three add-on chips have been used.

Lester and Bronstein Reach For Add-On Chips

Five players went to a flop of {J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and the player in the nine seat fired out 400. Jason Lester made the call before Yuval Bronstein potted it to 2,100. Seat nine re-potted with Lester and Bronstein the only callers for their last chips.

Lester: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs}
Bronshtein: {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}
Opponent: {J-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Lester had a pair and nut flush draw, Bronstein opened an overpair and straight draw, but both trailed their opponent who had two pair with a straight draw.

The turn and river bricked out {K-Clubs}, {9-Spades} to leave both Lester and Bronshtein reaching for their add-on chips. Lester took one and saved two in the bank, while Bronstein had seen enough as he cashed in his three add-on chips to now sit with 22,500 chips.

Annette Loses Another Life

Annette Obrestad clicked pot on a {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{3-Spades} board, and her opponent called all in for just over 5,000. She held {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for an open-ender, and the other player had {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{j-Spades}{9-Spades} for two pair with a higher straight draw. Neither had revealed their hand yet when the dealer laid the {10-Spades} on the river. "Tens full," her opponent said quickly. Annette cashed in the second of her three rebuy chips, and on to the next hand.

Boatman Goes Backdoor In Battle of the Brits

There was plenty of confusion preflop and about five dealers on the table of Barny Boatman after he moved in preflop for his last 1,325 and found himself two opponents who re-potted to create a side pot. The dealer eventually got the main pot and side pots sorted with some help from some frustrated players at the table, and the flop was spread {3-Clubs}{K-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Richard Ashby moved all in to win the side pot as the third player folded. Ashby opened {A-}{K-}{J-}{10-} for a pair of kings as Boatman was in trouble with {Q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for just a pair of sevens.

However the turn was the {5-Clubs} and river the {4-Hearts} and Boatman made a backdoor straight to triple up and save his add-on chips for another time.

Nguyen Loses First Rebuy, Farha Shows Off Second Bracelet

Men Nguyen was all in on a board reading {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Both of his opponents turned over queen-ten to chop the pot with Broadway. Nguyen showed a five, but without a boat, that wasn't worth a whole lot.

Meanwhile, sitting next to Nguyen, Sammy Farha's shiny new 2010 WSOP bracelet had caught the attention of the table. One player asked to touch it, and Farha happily took it off and handed it to the guy. Throwing superstition (and Farha's warning about jinxes) out the window, the man promptly put it on. "It looks good on you," Farha said with a smile. "It looks good on dark skin."

Set Over Set Not Upsetting for De Wolfe

The flop came out {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, and Roland De Wolfe moved all in. His opponent called, and Roland showed {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for top set. The other player with a pair of jacks was not too pleased to see his middle set was drawing to one out. Neither the turn nor the river were jacks, and De Wolfe moved up to 12,000.

Some Late Arrivals

With the new WSOP rules preventing late registrations from taking their seat until the start of the next level, we've just had an influx of players take their seats in this event.

Some of those who are now in the thick of the action include David Levi, David Bach, Gavin Smith, Samyy Farha, Dan Heimiller, Erica Schoenberg and Men Nguyen.

One particularly tough table has emerged featuring George Lind, Amnon Filippi, Kathy Liebert, Mike Matusow, Michael Binger and Thor Hansen.

Also nearby we see Nenad Medic, David Bach, Andy Seth, Eugene Todd and JC Tran all seated together.

Fitoussi Can't Get Away with It

Bruno Fitoussi moved all in for 3,800 on a board reading {7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. His opponent looked him up with {a-Spades}{j-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for jacks and deuces with an ace. Fitoussi's {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} had a world of draws on the turn, but it wasn't worth a hill of beans on the river. His bluff having failed, Fitoussi was relieved of one of his rebuy chips.
