We walked up to a flop of in time to see Neil Channing fire out a bet of 8,000. He was up against Roland Isra, and Isra stuck in a check-raise to 20,000 total. Channing responded by moving all in for 44,000, and Isra called to put him at risk.
Showdown
Channing:
Isra:
Both players had flopped trips, but Channing was out-kicked and in need of some help to stay alive. The turn did nothing to change his plight, and the river failed to help either. Channing can't improve, and he's out of chips and out of Day 2.
Juha Helppi was on the short stack and looking for a much needed double up when his chips were in on a flop of against expense of Nini Carlo.
Helppi:
Carlo:
Helppi was confident with his jack-high straight but Carlo tabled the same hand! They couldn't be separated through the turn and river as the pot was chopped. Helppi is currently around 35,000 chips.
There was about 20,000 in the pot when we walked up to a board showing . Paul Marrow was first to act, and he bet 19,500. Chris Bell promptly moved all in for 35,500, and Marrow called saying, "I haven't got anything yet."
Marrow:
Bell:
The river was a safe for Bell, and he's found his double up close to 90,000.
Marrow was left with just bout 15,000 chips, and he lost that remainder on the next hand.
On a flop of Ross Boatman moved all in for his last 16,400 chips and Chau Giang made the call from late position.
Boatman:
Giang:
Giang had an overpair and flush draw but would need to improve against Boatman's two pair. The turn was the to make a full house for Boatman which remained the winner despite Giang catching his flush on the river.
Giang is back to 71,000 with Boatman doubling to 53,000.
Team PokerStars Pros Vanessa Selbst and Noah Boeken have both increased their stacks this afternoon to now sit at around 140,000 which puts them firmly entrenched in our top ten.
PokerStars Team France Pro Thomas Bichon has chipped up a little to sit at around 80,000, while Jason Mercier has also increased his stack slightly to move up to 70,000.
At the bottom end of the leaderboard, Greg Raymer has struggled to get things moving today as he still hovers around the 40,000 chip mark while Humberto Brenes was recently sent to the rail.
We were motioned to the table by Humberto Brenes, and we scurried over to see a board of spread out and all of Brenes' ~25,000 chips in the middle. "Nuts!" he said, showing up for the ace-high flush.
From across the table, Danny Wong said "Real nuts!" He showed us for the straight flush, and that's good enough to cooler Brenes right out of here. Wong is up to 55,000 after that timely river card.
