We're not sure if these two things are connected, but Alex Wice seems to have disappeared and Chad "lilholdem954" Batista, who was sitting next to him, is up to 14,000.

We're not accountants, nor missing persons experts, but Daniel Negreanu is no longer sitting at his table and his seat has been filled by a new body. Our deductive reasoning has led us to believe that he has been eliminated from the tournament.

Some Curiousness on the Floor

Players are still registering for this event, and as there is a rule that states that late registrants can't sit down until the start of the next level, the 7pm starters should not have been allowed to take their seats until after the break.

Nevertheless at one table in the about-to-be-opened section, two players sat down and the dealer started to deal. Their first hand was a simple raise-and-fold affair, but on the second hand, around 2,000 chips had found their way into the middle before the floor realised what was going on. It was ruled that they could play the hand out and keep any chips they won (or, for the other guy, swallow any loss he incurred) but that the blinds that had been taken off the other players' stacks should be returned. It wasn't clear whether the blinds were going to come out of the stack of the winner of tht second hand or from somewhere else.

Mayrinck On the Rise

Maria Mayrinck was sitting in the small blind when she was facing a raise to 250 from a player in middle position and a call from a player in late position. She used her turn to re-raise to 725. The original raiser called, but the late-position player folded.

The flop came {q-Spades} {7-Clubs} {k-Hearts} and Mayrinck bet 700 with her opponent calling. The turn was the {5-Spades} and both players checked to see the {3-Spades} river and checked again.

Mayrinck turned up {a-Clubs} {k-Diamonds} and her opponent mucked, sending the Brazilian's stack to about 9500.

De Wolfe Vs. De World

It's still early so many of the cool kids haven't made it in quite yet, but nevertheless a few interesting tables have formed.

Perhaps the most interesting currently features Phil Ivey and Roland de Wolfe sitting side by side. The field is massive and your bloggers are only two so we haven't been able to spend too much time checking out their antic at the table yet, but we can tell you that when we first strolled by their table de Wolfe was over 10,000 with an empty seat next to him a the table - but when we passed by again a little while later, de Wolfe was down under 3,000.

The Moneymaker Effect

Chris Moneymaker just took a seat at Theo Tran's table towards the back of the Amazon Room. It wasn't long before they were both involved in a pot together. However, it was a brief dance, with Moneymaker calling Tran's early position preflop raise to 150 along with two other players. When Tran bet 275 into a flop of {8-Spades} {j-Spades} {q-Spades} the next player to act made it 875 to go, with everyone else folding.

Tran showed a red jack to the table before releasing his cards.

Tran Doubles Early

We arrived at Theo Tran's table to see him sitting in the big blind, involved in a pot against a player in middle position.

The flop we were looking at was {5-Clubs} {j-Clubs} {8-Clubs} and Tran's opponent had bet 1,500 into a large-sized pot. Tran throught for a moment and went all in for about 4,000, with his opponent calling:

Tran: {4-Clubs} {q-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Clubs} {j-Hearts}

Tran had made his flush, but his opponent was drawing to the nut flush. The turn was the {8-Spades} and Tran only had to sweat one more card, which he did when the river came {3-Diamonds} .
