Phil Ivey is still in the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout, but has pulled up a chair to play some triple draw across the hallway here in the Amazon room during the dinner break over there. He's seated with Bill Chen and Amnon Filippi. Out his his seven total bracelets, none are from any straight hold'em variation and one is from the $2,500 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball last year. This makes him a threat to any mixed-game tournament.
We've already surpassed the number from last year. There was 247 players in the field for this event last year and the clock already shows that the count is at 270. That's more than 20 players more than last year and a very positive increase here in Event No. 7.
Under the gun, Bill Chen raised and Team PokerStars Hungarian Pro Richard Toth raised from the big blind. Chen called and was surprised to see that Toth stood pat. Chen drew two and was faced with a bet from Toth.
Chen raised it and Toth called. Both stood pat the rest of the way with Toth check-calling bets from Chen, who tabled to win the pot.
Bill Chen increased his stack to 8,400 and Richard Toth dropped to 7,300.
Bernard Lee drew two on the first draw and his opponent drew one. Lee then check-called a bet before drawing just one card on the second draw. His opponent also drew one. Lee check-called again before drawing another card. His opponent opted to stay pat before both players checked. Lee mucked his hand after his opponent tabled the and dropped to 6,000 chips.
Joe Serock and one other player checked before Scott Fischman fired a bet after the first draw. Yan Chen, who placed third in last year's event, raised and was able to get himself heads up with Fischman. Both players then drew one. Then they both checked.
On the third and final draw, both players drew one again. Fischman checked and Chen fired a bet. Fischman folded and Chen was able to pick up the pot and move himself back to 8,000 chips. Fischman lost the pot, but still has 10,000 chips.
Jordan Smith raised from the cutoff and Sorel Mizzi made it three bets to go on the button. The blinds folded and Little called, drawing one.
Mizzi drew two and after Smith checked, Mizzi bet. Smith called and drew one, while Mizzi stood pat. Smith check-called a bet from Mizzi again and the same action took place after the third draw.
Mizzi tabled for number three to win the pot and chipped up to 8,200. Smith slipped to 6,400.
Matt Glantz raised form middle position and the big blind called. The big blind then drew one and Glantz drew two. Glantz bet after his opponent checked to him post-draw and the player called.
On the next draw, both players draw one. Action then went check, bet, call again. The big blind then drew one more and Glantz stood pat.
After the final draw, the big blind checked and Glantz checked behind before tabling his . He won the hand and moved himself up to about 9,500 chips.
Andy Bloch raised on the button, receiving calls by the player in the small blind and Mark Roland in the big blind.
The player in the small blind drew three, Roland drew two, and Bloch two as well. The small blind bet, Roland raised, and Bloch made it three bets. He was called by both and they went to the second draw.
The small blind drew two and Roland drew one, while Bloch stood pat. It was checked to Bloch and he bet, getting calls from both opponents. The third draw went exactly the same as the second and Bloch bet again when the action was checked to him. The small blind called and Roland tossed his hand to the dealer. Bloch tabled number three, , and the chips were pushed his way.
Bloch is still below the starting stack, currently sitting with 6,300.
