Erich Froehlich made an opening raise to 2,500, and Jeff Willams three-bet to 9,000 from the button. An unknown player in the small blind moved all in for 9,200 total, folding Froehlich and drawing the quick call from Williams.
Showdown
Williams:
Opponent:
The board came , holding the at-risk player's aces and issuing him a double up over 20,000. Williams is down to 24,000 now.
We admittedly look past James "Flushy" Dempsey often since we just don't see him that much over here in the States. We saw him in the field earlier, but he has kept off our radar for most of the evening.
Not anymore. A quick check on Flushy sees that somewhere along the line, he worked his way into a commanding chip lead. He's sitting pretty with 140,000 chips right now, and that puts him well out in front of his nearest challenger at this point.
In middle position, Jim Lewis raised to 3,500, and Eric Froehlich three-bet to 12,000 from the button. Lewis made the call, and the two men saw a flop of . Lewis quickly announced a pot-sized bet of 25,500, and Froehlich made the call, putting himself all in in the process. The news was not good:
Lewis:
Froehlich:
The turn was the , and the river completed the board. Unable to find any help for his inferior kicker, Froehlich has been eliminated from the tournament.
Joe Gotlieb limped into the pot under the gun, and Jason Potter raised to 3,600 from the button. Gotlieb called, and the two men went to a heads-up flop of . After a Gotlieb check, Potter's follow-up bet of 4,200 quickly found a call.
Gotlieb checked in the dark as the dealer burned and turned the . Potter put another 5,600 chips into the pot, and his opponent came right along with the call once again.
The filled out the board, and Gotlieb received it with an all-in shove for about 25,000. Potter was completely taken aback. "You flopped quads. You totally flopped quads!" he said across the table. It was another minute or three before Potter mustered the gumption to fold what he would later say was pocket jacks.
"Two hundred dollars to show me less than a five," Potter said as the dealer was pushing the pot. "Two hundred dollar freeroll."
Gotlieb looked absolutely shocked and he asked Potter to show him the money. As Potter reached for his roll, Gotlieb flipped up his , and he looked like a kid on Christmas morning as he was handed two crisp Benjamins. He was still beaming as the floor tapped him on the shoulder to move him for a table rebalance immediately following the hand.
We picked up the action on the flop as the dealer ran out the first three cards . Action was on Christian Harder in the small blind, and he put out a bet of 2,800. His opponent made a raise to 12,400, and that sent Harder into the tank for a couple minutes. Eventually, he re-raised the pot, and his opponent called all in for his last ~27,000 total chips.
Showdown:
Harder:
Opponent:
Harder had the pot in his grasp, but it would soon slip away. The dealer pulled the off on fourth street, counterfeiting Harder and improving his opponent to queens up. The locked up the pot for the other player, dropping Harder down to 29,000.
