A Dangerous Man to Chip Up

Lex Veldhuis
Lex Veldhuis

We caught up with the action on the turn with the board showing {9-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {J-Spades}. There was about 2,200 in the pot when we walked up, and Lex Veldhuis was seen betting 1,775. His lone announced a check-raise, but he didn't put nearly enough chips into the pot to do so successfully. The dealer made him put in more chips to make the minimum raise to 3,550. Veldhuis asked him how much he was playing before moving all in for 9,975 total. His opponent had nearly as many chips, and he made the call to put himself at risk.

Showdown
Veldhuis: {A-Spades} {J-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}

It was two pair for both men, but Veldhuis had taken a big lead with that jack on the turn. The river came the {10-Hearts}, changing nothing and sending that sizable pot (the biggest we've seen so far) over to Mr. Veldhuis. He's up to 21,000, and that should instill some fear in his table mates.
