More Chips to Blumenthal

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Eddie Blumenthal has shown that he is going nowhere and is prepared to grind this one out, having taken another couple of pots off Geffrey Klein.

Klein limped in from the button and Blumenthal checked his option from the big blind to see a flop of {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}; Blumenthal led out for 50,000 and Klein called before both players checked down the turn of the {5-Diamonds} and the river {4-Clubs}. Blumenthal showed down {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades} and his two pair was good for that pot.

Then in the next hand, Blumenthal limped in from the button and Klein checked from the big blind before the dealer spread the flop of {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Klein checked and Bumenthal led out for 60,000, but Klein check-raised to 200,000. Blumenthal flat-called, so it was off to the turn of the of the {A-Diamonds}.

Klein checked, Blumenthal fired out 235,000 and Klein mucked his hand.

It may be slow in terms of the action, but we can safely say that the railbirds are clearly enjoying the call of the cards from maestro MC and tournament supervisor Bob Smith, who has given Klein the nickname "Doc", owing to the fact that the Texas native is a practicing gynecologist!

Blumenthal Pulls Back

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Geffrey Klein limped in from the button and Eddie Blumenthal checked in the big blind. The flop came down paired with the {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Blumenthal checked. Klein bet 50,000 and Blumenthal called.

The {7-Spades} hit the turn and Blumenthal check-called 100,000 from Klein to see the {10-Hearts} fall on the river. Blumenthal checked and Klein bet 500,000. Blumenthal made the call and Klein said he was playing the board. Blumenthal showed the {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and won the pot.

Back to Small Ball

Level 27 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

With the chip counts practically even now, the action in this heads-up battle between Eddie Blumenthal and Geffrey Klein has slowed up dramatically.

Earlier, Blumenthal raised to 125,000 and Klein checked before the dealer spread the flop of {3-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}. Klein bet out 100,000, but folded after Blumenthal popped it up to 275,000.

In the very next hand, Klein limped in and Blumenthal checked to see the flop of {6-Spades}{A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}, then check-folded after Klein's bet of 75,000.

A few preflop-raise-and-folds later, Blumenthal limped in from the button and Klein checked his option in the big blind to go to the flop of {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Klein bet out 75,000 and Blumenthal folded.

Blumenthal is looking a little unsettled since that big double-up, while Klein is no longer chewing on his shirt collar and sitting up a lot more in his seat. This is turning out to be an epic heads-up battle!

Give the Lead to Klein

Geffrey Klein doubles up
Geffrey Klein doubles up

Geffrey Klein limped in from the button and then Eddie Blumenthal raised to 135,000 from the big blind. Klein made it 550,000 from the button after limping and then Blumenthal moved all in. Klein called to put himself at risk.

Klein: {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}
Blumenthal: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}

The flop came down with an eruption: {J-Spades}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}. Blumenthal had taken the lead and needed to dodge two more cards to grab the bracelet.

The turn was the {3-Hearts} and there was only one more card to come. A queen or a king would give Klein the double up and that's what Blumenthal was looking to dodge.

The river card was dealt and the {Q-Hearts} hit the end of the board. Blumenthal swung his arms and stomped his foot in frustration as Klein celebrated with his fans after spiking the queen to double up. Klein is back to 4.9 million now and Blumenthal slipped to 3.7 million.

Geffrey Klein began this hand on the button and limped in. Eddie Blumenthal raised all in from the big blind and Klein quickly called with the {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. Blumenthal showed a dominated {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}.

The flop came down clean for Klein, {10-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}. The turn brought the {3-Spades} and added a flush draw for Blumenthal, which you know if you've been following along that he is very proficient in hitting these.

This time though, the river was the {5-Clubs} and Blumenthal missed. Klein doubled up to 2.56 million in chips and has a bit more to play with now.
