Andy Black was able to knock out a player when his held against the of his opponent.
Another player at the same table asked Black, "Do you always run this good?"
"Better! I always run perfectly," Black said with a smile. His stack has been on a steady climb upward today and currently rests at 133,000. If Black runs any better it is going to take a lot to stop him in this tournament.
On a flop of Dean Hamrick announced that he was all in. Matt Sterling made the call, tabling which was ahead of Hamrick's . Although behind on the flop, Hamrick was able to stay alive in the tournament thanks to the turn and river of and pairing the board, and thus allowing for a chopped pot. Sterling seemed annoyed by the turn of events, but Hamrick was certainly elated that he was able to stay alive in the tournament.
Anthony Fung opened from early position and Nickolas Davies moved all in behind him. Fung called and tabled pocket queens, which was bad news for Davies as he held pocket jacks.
The board ran and Fung's queens held. Davies thought he was eliminated but after the dealer counted down the stacks he had just over two big blinds. It seems as if he'll make it to the dinner break.
We caught the action with Sam Trickett having four bet all in Brett Shaffer. Shaffer decided to make the call and put his 75,000 chip stack at risk.
Trickett:
Shaffer:
Trickett was in great position to knock out Shaffer the hand before the dinner break and his lock on the hand got even stronger when the flop came . The turn and river both bricked Shaffer's Jacks and Trickett was shipped the pot.
Still counting his chips as the players leave for dinner, Trickett is now around the 230,000 mark.
Nickolas Davies was short-stacked and shoved preflop. He found a caller and tabled . The flop ran and Davies' pair of nines was enough to get him back up to 25,000.
From the cutoff, Christopher Johnson raised and was three bet by Richard Trigg in the blinds. After some thought, Johnson decided to four bet to 25,000. After only a few seconds, Trigg announced he was all in and Johnson snap-called.
Trigg:
Johnson:
Johnson was putting his near 100,000 chip stack at risk against the chip leader but was unfortunately a dog in the hand. The flop came which was no help to Johnson. The gave Johnson additional outs in the form of an open ended straight draw, but Trigg dodged the nine-outer on the river when the landed.
Justin Chan opened the action by moving all of his chips in the middle preflop. Jason Helder made the call from the small blind, tabling . Chan flipped up and we were off to the flop.
The flop came and Chan stayed in the lead with ace high. Ace high still held as the hit the turn and ended up being the winning hand after the hit the river. Winning this pot brought Chan up to around 45,000 in chips.
