Sternberg Gets There The Hard Way

Level 18 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Justin Sternberg and David Diaz were heads up on a {4-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop. Sternberg checked to Diaz who bet 12,000. Sternberg check-raised all in for another 56,000. Diaz thought for a minute, counted out the chips, thought for a bit more and made the call.

The table was impressed when Diaz flipped over {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} and was ahead of the {10-Spades}{8-Spades} holding of Sternberg. The turn was the {7-Spades} which gave Sternberg some more outs, one of which he used on the {9-Spades} river to give him the flush. Diaz just frowned and shook his head as the pot was shipped to the other side of the table.

Diaz is still strong with 250,000 while Sternberg chips up to 165,000.
