We have completed four levels of player here on Day 2, which means it is time for the dinner break. Players will have one hour to visit either the Poker Kitchen, one of the many restaurants throughout the Rio, or any other food outlet of their choosing.

We'll be back in an hour as well!

Two Pair is Good

Ronnie Bardah
Ronnie Bardah

Ronnie Bardah raised from early position at Table 359, hoping to get some action. He found a caller in Shawn Buchanan and both of them got to see the flop.

{5-Spades} {4-Hearts} {J-Hearts} all graced the felt. Buchanan then check-raised, and Bardah paid to see the {K-Clubs} appear on the turn. Bardah again bet out first this time only receiving a call from Buchanan.

The {10-Diamonds} was placed as fifth street and again Buchanan called a bet from Bardah. The table was shown the winning hand of {K-Spades} {J-Clubs} by Bardah, while Buchanan mucked.

Marco Pulls One In

We caught up with the action on a {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop where Marco Traniello bet from the small blind. A player in middle position made the call as the players saw a {8-Diamonds} on the turn. This time Traniello’s bet was enough to get his opponent to fold. Even though he won the pot, Traniello’s stack has slipped quite a bit since the start of the day.

Half the Day 2 Field Gone

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

We started Day 2 with 163 players, and right now only 81 remain in contention. That means we've lost more than half the field in just 225 minutes of play, averaging about one elimination every three minutes. Not too shabby for a limit tournament.

The Thorpedo

A player in middle position moved all in and Mike Thorpe raised on the button. Everyone else folded and the players turned up their cards.

Thorpe: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Opponent: {K-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and provided no help to Thorpe’s opponent who was eliminated.

Gromov Bests Ramdin

Dmitry Gromov
Dmitry Gromov

A huge pot developed preflop involving Dmitry Gromov, Victor Ramdin, and a short-stacked player on the button. When the flop fell {6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}, Ramdin checked, Gromov bet, the button raised all in for 1,400 total, and both Ramdin and Gromov made the call.

The dealer burned and turned the {10-Diamonds}, which saw Ramdin check-call a Gromov bet. The same action occurred on the {9-Hearts} river, and Gromov flipped over his {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}. Ramdin and the button both mucked, with the latter hitting the rail.

A Little Luck on Kravchenko's Side

By the time we arrived at the table Alexander Kravchenko had bet and it was on Tobin Banks. The board read {9-Diamonds} {10-Hearts} {A-Spades} {6-Hearts} {K-Spades} and Banks was very slow to make the call.

After Kravchenko flipped over {Q-} {J-} for the nuts. Banks was disgusted and threw his cards face up in front of the dealer. It was clear why Banks was upset as his {A-} {5-} was being picked up by the dealer to shuffle for the next hand.
