J-Dag With the Razz-le Dazzle

Level 9

Razz:

We caught up with the hand as John "J-Dag" D'Agostino was involved in a heads-up pot.

D'Agostino: (X)(X) - {A-}{6-}{3-}{Q-}
Opponent: (X)(X) - {4-}{8-}{3-}{3-}

On fifth street, J-Dag bet 600 chips and was raised to 1,200 by his opponent. D'Agostino made the call and when sixth street was dealt his opponent led out for 1,200. It was D'Agostino's turn to raise this time and he bumped it up to 2,400 to go. His opponent made the call and the last down cards were distributed on seventh street.

D'Agostino again bet 1,200 chips and his opponent began to frown and fidget in his chair as he contemplated his decision. Eventually he made the crying call and J-Dag revealed his down cards: {5-}{7-} for an A3567 low. His opponent obviously believed he was ahead until seventh street and shot J-Dag a poisonous look before mucking his cards.

Marsters Scoops Shorr

Level 9

Omaha-8:

From the hijack seat, Shannon Shorr raised. Tim Marsters called from the cutoff and then the big blind also came along to the flop. The {8-Clubs}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} was placed on the felt by the dealer and action checked to Shorr. He didn't fire and checked to Marsters. Marsters bet and the big blind folded before Shorr made the call.

The {8-Clubs} paired the board on the turn and Marsters bet after Shorr checked. Shorr made the call and the {Q-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Shorr checked, Marsters bet and Shorr called.

Marsters showed the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for aces and eights for the high and the nut low. Shorr mucked his hand and dropped to 2,600 in chips. Marsters improved to 18,600.

Bach Chips Up with Two Pair

Level 8

Stud-8:

Player 1: (X)(X) - {5-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} - (X)
David Bach: (X)(X) - {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} - (X)

Chad Brown brought in with the {3-Hearts} showing and the player with the {5-Spades} called. David Bach completed and only the player with the {5-Spades} called to go further to fourth street. On fourth, Bach bet after his opponent checked and the player called. On fifth, the same thing happened. On sixth, Back was first and bet. He was called, but that didn't stop him from betting seventh as well. His opponent called again.

Bach tabled the {K-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts} for kings and sevens and his opponent mucked. Bach won the hand and the 2009 $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. champion improved to 12,500 in chips.

Flack Finds the Right Fold

Level 8

Stud:

We caught up with this hand as Layne Flack and two other opponents were on fifth street.

Flack: (X)(X) - {10-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}
Opponent # 1: (X)(X) - {K-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Opponent # 2: (X)(X) - {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Spades}

After opponent # 1 bet 1,000 and opponent # 2 raised to 2,000, Flack had a pained expression pass over his face and he reluctantly released his hand.

Opponent # 1 received the {9-Clubs} on sixth street, while opponent # 2 drew the {5-Clubs}. After another round of 1,000 bets went into the pot, both players squeezed their final down card and bet for a last time. Opponent # 1 flipped up the {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for top two pair and opponent # 2 threw his cards away.

Flack broke into his usual wide grin and laughed as he told the winning player that "he folded two-pair, tens and fours, and a four flush." While the Layne Flack Show is known for hijinx at the table, chattering to opponents, and having an overall great time, this hand proved that the six-time WSOP bracelet winner known as "Back to Back" Flack is a highly skilled poker professional capable of making great reads in any variety of poker discipline.

Chad Brown: Good Guy, Great Player, Better Teacher

Level 8
Chad Brown: Class Act
Chad Brown: Class Act

Stud-8:

We caught up with the action on sixth street, as Chad Brown was involved in a heads-up hand.

Brown: (X)(X) - {Q-Hearts}{4-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Opponent: (X)(X) - {7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The dealer mistakenly dealt Brown's card on seventh street, which was the {4-Clubs}, face up and after Brown politely pointed out the error, the dealer compounded the mistake by dealing the opponent's last down card, the {Q-Diamonds} face up as well. He explained to Brown that because he accidentally dealt one card face up, he had to expose deal the other player's card as well.

Brown tabled his {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs} down cards for two pair, sevens and fours, and chopped the pot with his opponent, who held a 24567 low. Brown then calmly explained to the dealer that, in this instance, he should not have dealt the opponent's card face up and should have called the floor. In a WSOP which has seen many players unable to control their anger, the easy going nature Brown displayed in this hand showed exactly why the poker community has supported Brown so vocally as he struggles to overcome a cancer diagnosis and subsequent radiation treatments.
