Elezra Slips Back to Double Digits

Level 9

Hold'em:

Eli Elezra fired a bet on the {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs} flop and his opponent raised in position. Elezra called and the two went to the turn where the {7-Spades} hit the board. Elezra checked and his opponent bet. Elezra called.

The river completed the board with the {A-Diamonds}. Elezra checked with the two rockets on board and his opponent bet. Elezra thought for a few seconds and the subtly gave a little flick to his cards to fold them.

Even though Elezra lost this hand and gave away some chips, he still has 98,500 to his name and is chip leader.

One for Browndog

Level 9

Razz:

Andrew Brown: (X)(X) - {8-}{6-}{6-}{2-}
Opponent: (X)(X) - {5-}{A-}{5-}{Q-}

After the player who had the {Q-Spades} brought in, Andrew Brown completed. Action folded to the player with a {5-} up and he called. The bring-in player folded, leaving Brown and his opponent heads up.

On fourth street, Brown called a bet from his opponent. On fifth street, both players paired and the player with a pair of fives bet into Brown. Brown came back with a raise. The player called. On sixth street, Brown bet after his opponent checked. The player mucked his hand and Brown showed one of his down cards, a {10-}.

Brown scooped the pot and increased to 22,000 in chips.

Elezra Breaks 100K...Baby

As we were walking past Eli Elezra he noticed us and said, "I broke 100, baby!"

He promptly counted his stack(s) down and came up with 103,000 - to be exact.

Buss Goes Way of Lakers, Gets Swept in Pot

Level 9

Stud-8:

We caught the action on seventh street as Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss was involved in a heads-up pot.

Buss: (X)(X) - {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
Opponent: (X)(X) - {4-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

After quickly check-calling bets by his opponent on every street, Jerry Buss called a final bet on seventh street after squeezing his last down card. His opponent showed down {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} for the eight-high straight and a low hand of A4567.

Buss looked befuddled as he held onto his hand, repeatedly looking at his opponent's holding and then back at his own cards. Eventually, like his basketball team did against the Mavericks earlier this summer, Buss waved the white flag and surrendered the pot.

Elezra Gives Some Back

Level 9

Stud:

We caught the action as tournament chip leader Eli Elezra was involved in a hand against a lone opponent.

Elezra: (X)(X) - {K-Spades}{5-Hearts}{A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}
Opponent: (X)(X) - {7-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts}

After Elezra completed the 600 chip bet, his opponent made the call. On fourth street Elezra fired a bet of 1,200 and his opponent made the call. The action repeated itself on fifth street, with Elezra betting 1,200 and his opponent coming along.

On sixth street both players slowed down and checked the action. When the dealer tossed each player their last down card on seventh street, Elezra again tapped the table and his opponent seized the moment by firing a bet of 1,200 into the pot. Despite the tremendous pot odds he was being laid, Elezra declined to bite and mucked his hand.

The tournament and high-stakes cash game veteran was not fazed by this turn of events, however, and quickly resumed his march towards the 100,000 chip mark.

Bari Quads Up

Level 9

Omaha-8:

On the {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop, Event #4 champion Allen Bari fired a bet. The next player folded and the third player in the hand called.

The turn was the {K-Diamonds} and Bari fired another bet. His opponent called and the river landed with the {K-Spades}. With three kings on board, Bari didn't slow down. He fired and his opponent called.

Bari instantly turned over the {K-Clubs}{J-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for quad kings and began pulling his chips back and stacking them. The dealer pushed him the pot and Bari stacked up to just about 20,000 in chips.

Holloway in Action

Level 9
Chad Holloway
Chad Holloway

Omaha-8:

The under-the-gun player limped in, Chad Holloway limped in from middle position, the small blind called and the big blind checked all before the dealer spread the {K-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} in the middle of the felt. The small blind led with a bet and the big blind folded. The under-the-gun player folded and Holloway called.

The turn came down the {8-Hearts} and both players checked before the {2-Diamonds} landed on the river. The small blind bet and Holloway called.

The small blind revealed the {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for a king-high flush. Holloway held the {3-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for the winning low and the two chopped up the pot.

PokerNews' own Holloway now sits with 12,100 in chips. Our very own Nichole Pickering caught up with Holloway on the last break to find out how things are going today.
