Woods Gains Momentum and Takes Chip Lead

Level 25 : 13,000/25,000, 0 ante

Kim Nguyen raised on the button and Darren Woods made the call. He then check-called a bet on the {K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{A-Spades} flop, which he also did on the {7-Hearts} turn. When the {9-Clubs} peeled off on the river, both players checked and Woods showed {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} to take down the pot.

Woods has the momentum here in the early stages of heads-up play. He now has the chip lead with 1.65 million to Nguyen's 1,000,000.

Samuel Golbuff Eliminated in 3rd Place ($85,616)

Samuel Golbuff (3rd Place- $85,616)
Samuel Golbuff (3rd Place- $85,616)

Samuel Golbuff raised from the button only to have Darren Woods reraise from the big blind. Golbuff made the call and watched as the flop fell {3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. Woods led out, Golbuff raised, Woods three-bet, and Golbuff called all in.

Golbuff: {5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Woods: {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}

Woods had a monster and Golbuff was in bad shape; however, the {2-Clubs} turn gave him an open-ended straight draw and reinvigorated the Golbuff rail. Their enthusiasm quickly diminished when the dealer failed to deliver a Golbuff-kind card, instead putting out the {J-Diamonds}.

Golbuff was eliminated from the tournament in third place for $85,616. Meanwhile, Nguyen (1.5 million) entered heads-up play with the chip lead against Woods (1.15 million).

Golbuff Triples, Still Short

Level 25 : 13,000/25,000, 0 ante

Sam Golbuff raised with the button, and was called by both Kim Nguyen and Darren Woods. The flop came down {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}, Nguyen and Woods checked to Golbuff who moved all in for less than a bet (19,000), and both Nguyen and Woods called. The action was checked down as the board came {6-Spades}, {5-Diamonds}, and Golbuff opened {7-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a runner-runner straight!

Even funnier, Nguyen and Woods both had king-seven.

Golbuff tripled, but is still short with 200,000 chips.

Nguyen Separating from the Pack

Level 25 : 13,000/25,000, 0 ante

Kim Nguyen raised on the button, Samuel Golbuff re-raised from the big blind, and Nguyen called. The flop came down {2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Golbuff led, and Nguyen called. The turn was the {4-Hearts}, and Golbuff slowed down, check-calling a bet from Nguyen.

The river was the {j-Spades}, Golbuff check-called one more bet, and Nguyen opened up {a-}{5-} for trip fives. Golbuff mucked, and Nguyen pushed her stack above 1.5 million chips.

Alex Kuzmin Eliminated in 4th Place ($57,236)

Alex Kuzmin (4th Place- $57,236)
Alex Kuzmin (4th Place- $57,236)

Sam Golbuff raised under the gun and Alexander committed his last 32,000 to the pot. Both Kim Nguyen and Darren Woods came along from the blind and it was four-players to the {2-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{7-Clubs} flop. All three active players checked and watched the {8-Spades} hit the turn. Action checked to Golbuff and he fired out a bet. Nguyen then raised, Woods three-bet, and Golbuff folded. Nguyen and Woods raised back and forth until the action was capped, creating a monster pot.

When the {10-Spades} peeled off on the river, Nguyen checked and Woods bet. Nguyen called and showed {10-}{9-}, which is exactly what Woods held. Kuzmin showed {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} and became our fourth-place finisher ($57,236) as Woods and Nguyen chopped up his chips.
