John Duthie First to Advance
John Duthie First to Advance

Carlos Mortensen led out preflop with a small bet and was raised by John Duthie. The man they call "The Matador" opted to commit the rest of his stack and pushed all-in. Duthie insta-called and showed {Q-}{Q-}, putting him far ahead of Mortensen's {2-}{2-}. A final board of {8-}{9-}{10-}{J-}{4-} gave Duthie a winning straight and made him the first competitor to advance to the Round of 16. Duthie is also the first player to make the money in this event, earning a payout of at least $67,436.
