Abecassis Out

Steven Merrifield raised to 4,500 from early position and Winamax Pro Michel Abecassis re-raised the pot essentially going all in. Merrifield made the small raise to put him all in flipped over his cards asking, "Do you have aces?" Abecassis said, "No, but I like my chances" and the two flipped over their cards.

Merrifield: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{6-Spades}
Abecassis: {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Spades}

The board ran out {j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs} and Abecassis hit the rail just short of the money. Merrifield now moves up to around 170,000, more than four times what he started the day with.

Wild Way To Go Into Dinner

Jeffrey Lisandro
Jeffrey Lisandro

We just caught a crazy hand being dealt between Shaun Deeb, Jeff Lisandro, and Jason Mercier. The three players got all the money in preflop, with Mercier easily having both covered.

Lisandro: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Mercier: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Deeb: {k-}{10-}{9-}{8-}

The flop came out {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{7-Spades}, giving Deeb very little in the way of outs. Lisandro paired his seven, and he stormed into the lead on the turn when it came {7-Clubs}. The river brought the {9-Clubs}, and Lisandro doubled through Mercier and knocked out Deeb in the process.

Devilfish Stalled

David "Devilfish" Ulliott
David "Devilfish" Ulliott

After David "Devilfish" Ulliott limped on the button and the blinds checked their options, the small blind bet 5,000 on the {10-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop. David Chiu called in the big blind and the Devilfish called behind. All three players checked the {K-Diamonds} turn, leading to the {J-Spades} river. It went check-check to the Devilfish and he fired out 20,000. Both his opponents folded and he picked up the small pot.

On the very next hand, Devilfish raised to 6,000 from the cutoff and Jesper Hougaard looked him up from the big blind. Both players checked the {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} flop, which was followed by the {10-Diamonds} turn. Hougaard led out for 8,000, Devilfish called, and the {3-Spades} was revealed on the river. This time Hougaard bet a more intimidating 22,000, which got Devilfish to fold.

Selbst Back To Scooping

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 0 ante

Shortly after Vanessa Selbst inexplicably lost a pot, she got right back to her winning ways, taking a big pot off Markus Ristola. We came to the table with the board dealt out {7-Hearts}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}{k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. Ristola thought for about a minute before he decided to check his option to Selbst. She thought for about the same time before she put out a near pot sized bet of 29,000. Ristola went into the tank before eventually putting in the chips for the call. Selbst showed {q-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for a rivered straight, and Ristola mucked. Selbst is back up to 375,000.

Pollak Slashes Flack Back

Gary Pollak has scored another double-up to move to almost 90,000, courtesy of Layne Flack.

All the money was in the middle on a flop that read {J-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and we just got there in time to see the hands being tabled:

Pollak: {K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}
Flack: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

Nothing changed after the turn and river ran out {2-Spades}, {8-Hearts} and Flack's now starting to look rather glum, now that he's down to 45,000 in chips.

Pollak Doubles Through Selbst

The action folded to Vanessa Selbst who raised to 6,000 from the button pre-flop, but Gary Pollak re-raised all-in from the small blind, forcing Layne Flack out of the way from the big blind. Selbst called and the cards were tabled:

Pollak: {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Selbst: {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}

Pollak's hand held up all the way down the board of {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} and he doubled up to 35,000 in chips.

Rast Eliminated by Svara

We're not sure when the money went in, but Brian Rast was recently eliminated. We found him with {K-}{Q-}{Q-}{8-} laid out in front of him on a board reading {K-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. However, Blaz Svara held {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a straight.

Rast will not be winning his second bracelet of 2011, while Svara has positioned himself as our chip leader.
