Hansen Plays it Safe

Level 11

Stud-8

Thor Hansen: (X)(X) / {3-Hearts}{4-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Spades} / (X)
Michael Binger: (X)(X) / {7-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} / (X)

Michael Binger checked seventh, and Thor Hansen was about to bet but changed his mind and checked behind. Hansen started with {5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and caught the {5-Spades} to make fives up and an eight-five low. That was good enough to scoop Binger's {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, which never turned into more than a pair of sixes and a losing low.

Hansen's scoop put him up to 38,000, leaving Binger with around 70,000. "Let me know the next time you have that big a hand," Binger told him. "Never raised, never nothing."

Scotty Chips Up, Then Chips Down

Level 11

Stud

Scotty Nguyen has just found a double when his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} / {Q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs} / {Q-Hearts} held true against his opponent's {K-}{K-} / {10-Hearts}{6-}{4-}{4-} / {7-}.

As Nguyen moved to 27,000, he then proceeded to lose the next hand to Doyle Brunson.

Nguyen: (X)(X) / {2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{4-Spades} / (X)
Brunson: (X)(X) / {J-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} / (X)

Brunson tabled his {K-}{K-} in the hole to prompt a muck from Nguyen as one World Champion slid to 12,000 as the other rose to 73,000 in chips.

Pezzin Falls

Pat Pezzin
Pat Pezzin

Stud

Pat Pezzin found himself all in on third street against two players as they continued to exchange bets the whole way.

Pezzin: (X)(X) / {3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{9-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} / (X)
Opponent: (X)(X) / {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{9-Hearts} / (X)
Opponent: (X)(X) / {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades} / (X)

With one of Pezzin's opponents tabling his {9-Spades}{6-Spades} / {K-Hearts} to make a flush, Pezzin was forced to hit the rail.

Richey Invents the Wheel

Stud-8

Jared Davis: (X)(X) / {k-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{9-Clubs}{j-Hearts} / (X)
Brett Richey: (X)(X) / {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Clubs} / (X)

Jared Davis checked sevenths in a huge stud pot, and Brett Richey bet. As soon as Davis made the call, Richey announced, "Wheel," in as flat a voice as possible. Doubt that took the sting out of it for Davis. Richey turned over {a-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds} for scoop, leaving Davis with just 2,000 chips. Davis is now gone and Richey is up around 145,000.
