Matusow Bets Out Alaei and Smith

Omaha-8

From middle position, Justin Smith raised. Mike Matusow called in the cutoff seat and Daniel Alaei called from the small blind to see the {Q-Spades}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} flop. Action checked around and the dealer placed the {7-Spades} out on the turn. Action checked to Matusow and he bet. Alaei folded and then Smith folded, showing the {2-Clubs} as he tossed his hand in. Matusow showed the {2-Spades} and the {5-Diamonds}, but nothing else.

By the Books

Level 9

Phil Laak is getting in some light reading at the table. He is currently studying Ray Zee's High-Low-Split Poker for Advanced Players (which happens to be on this blogger's nightstand at the moment.) In case Laak finishes that tome, he's has two more books on the felt in front of him: Super System 2 and Full Tilt Poker's Strategy Guide.

Mizzi and Ho Chop Up Boeken's Chips

Level 9

Omaha-8

Noah Boeken opened to 2,400 from the cutoff and both Sorel Mizzi and Maria Ho defended their blinds as all three players checked the {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop.

Mizzi led for 2,400 when the turn landed the {5-Diamonds}, and once Ho and Boeken called, the {Q-Spades} landed on the river. Mizzi checked, Ho bet, Boeken folded and Mizzi stated, "I might get scooped here!" and called.

Ho tabled her {A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{J-Spades}, and Mizzi his {7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Spades} to see the pot chopped.

Bord Out

Level 9

Hold'em

2010 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event champion James Bord was just eliminated by Michele Limongi. We missed the action and how it went, but saw that Bord's {A-Spades}{3-Spades} went down to Limongi's {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} after Limongi made a flush. Bord had even flopped two pair, but couldn't fill up and was eliminated.

Dwan Doubles

Hold'em

Catching the action with the board reading {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{6-Spades}, we found Tom Dwan checking to Matt Hawrilenko who opted to fire out a bet of 1,200.

Dwan check-raised to 2,400, and once Hawrilenko called, Dwan moved his last 1,800 all in on the turn with Hawrilenko calling.

Dwan: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Hawrilenko: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

The river landed the meaningless {2-Hearts} to see Dwan double to roughly 18,000 as Hawrilenko - who has already been on a heater today - slip to 82,000 in chips.

Sung's Song Done

Level 9

Stud-8

Victor Ramdin: (X)(X) / {3-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Steve Sung: (X)(X) / {4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Clubs} / (X)
Ram Vaswani: (X)(X) / {6-Spades}{k-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} / (X)
David Benyamine: (X)(X) / {5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{j-Clubs} / (X)

Four players called one bet on third street to get a second up card. Steve Sung thought he was first to act with his {q-Diamonds} and tried to bet, but Ram Vaswani stopped him since he actually had first action. Vaswani laughed and checked, knowing Sung wanted to bet, but David Benyamine decided not to leave the betting to anyone else. He bet, and Victor Ramdin folded. Sung and Vaswani both called.

Vaswani paired his king on fifth and bet, picking up calls from Benyamine and Sung. Same action on sixth. Vaswani opted to check seventh, and Benaymine took over the betting. Sung called, and Vaswani shrugged and called too. Benyamine turned up {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for a seven-five low. Vaswani's {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Clubs} gave him kings up. Sung couldn't beat either hand, and they chopped up his money.

Sung was left with just 2,700 and didn't last the rest of the round. Vaswani is up to 76,000, and Benyamine is sitting with around 60,000.

Ware Clips Steicke

Level 9

Hold'em

The action folded to David Steicke on the button and he made it 2,400 to go. Chip leader Ron Ware defended his small blind as the flop landed {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

Ware bet out 1,200 and Steicke made the call as the {5-Hearts} landed on the turn and Ware fired out 2,400. Steicke folded, and Ware's stack increased.

Eslami and Hairabedian Chop; Eslami Stays Alive

Level 9

Stud-8

Roger Hairabedian: (X)(X) / {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{Q-Spades} / (X)
Jason Young: (X)(X) / {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} - fold
Ali Eslami: (X)(X) / {K-Spades}{A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} / (X)

Picking up the action on fourth street, Jason Young bet his open pair of fives and Ali Eslami raised. Roger Hairabedian called and then Young also called. On fifth street, Eslami picked up a pair of kings and took the lead. He bet out, Hairabedian called and Young folded. Eslami then bet on sixth street and was all in. Hairabedian called.

Eslami tabled the {K-Hearts}{4-Clubs} from his down cards for trips with one card to come. Hairabedian showed the {5-Clubs}{2-Spades} for a low and was drawing to a straight. Hairabedian pulled the {7-Clubs} and that meant the two would chop the pot. Eslami pulled the {K-Clubs} just for good measure to make quads.

Quads for Billirakis

Stud-8

Catching the action on sixth street, we found Steve Billirakis all in against Maria Ho.

Billirakis: (X)(X) / {2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Ho: (X)()X / {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{9-Spades}{K-Spades}

Billirakis tabled his hole cards of {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for quads, and although he found the {9-Clubs} on seventh, Ho had already whipped her cards to the muck as she received the meaningless {3-Diamonds}.
