Don't They Spend Enough Time Together?

Level 6

We reported earlier in the day that husband and wife Erick Lindgren and Erica Schoenberg started play today sitting at the same table. That table was broken up quite awhile ago, but the poker gods apparently have a sense of humor.

When Erica's new table got broken up her next random table draw put her smack dab next to her husband.

Phil Hellmuth walked over to their table and pointed at the two of them saying, "Really?" to which Lindgren replied, "Second time today!"

Greenstein Gets Paid

Level 6

PLO

On a flop of {2-Clubs}{2-Spades}{k-Clubs}, Barry Greenstein was able to get his opponent to put all of his chips in with {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs}. Greenstein had {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and had his opponent drawing very slim. The turn was the {3-Spades} and the river was the {j-Clubs}. Both were bricks for his opponent and after the count down, Greenstein just barely had him covered.

He now has 36,000 chips.

Corkins Gets KOed

PLO

After a flop of {8-Spades}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, Hoyt Corkins ended up all in versus Carter Gill.

Gill: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Corkins: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

Corkins aces were in the lead even after the turn brought the {k-Spades}, but the river was the {8-Clubs} giving both players a flush, but Gill held the superior one and Corkins was eliminated from the tournament.

Williams Busts Black

Level 5

PLO

Although the action is unknown, all the money was in on the flop of {4-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. David Williams had {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for bottom set against the {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{9-Clubs} of Andy Black for a substantially sized pot in the neighborhood of 30,000 chips.

The turn and river bricked out for Black and David Williams continues to climb. After having fallen back some, he now sits with 63,000 with that pot.

Laak Hanging On

Level 5

PLH

Preflop Phil Laak was already all in and there were two other players who were involved in a side pot. The flop came {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Clubs} and the player in the big blind bet out 5,000. The other player in the hand reluctantly folded and the remaining hands were revealed.

Laak: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Big Blind: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Laak had outflopped his opponent by hitting a pair of twos, and things only got prettier from there when the turn and river brought the {q-Hearts} and {k-Hearts} giving Laak a flush.

Laak now sits with 6,675 in his stack.

Exit Stage Left

PLO

James Dempsey arrived at the break and it didn't take him very long to be knocked out. Having doubled up, Dempsey ran aces into a set before getting his stack in the middle with {q-}{q-}{x-}{x-} against {a-}{a-}{x-}{x-} on a {A-}{Q-}{3-} board and failing to hit quads.

Karl Mahrenholz has also been knocked out.

Negreanu Is Here! ... Errrr, He Was Here

Level 5

On break from Event #37, the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, Daniel Negreanu decided to try and build a stack in this tournament. He sat down and immediately told the table he was going to play reckless and that nobody should fold when he is in a hand.

True to his word, Negreanu decided to raise in his very first hand to 750 while playing PLH. Everyone folded and Negreanu flipped over {k-}{k-}. He seemed in disbelief everyone folded.

A few hands later it was time for PLO and Negreanu three-bet from the big blind. The original raiser decide to pot it up and they eventually got all the money in. Negreanu's {k-}{k-}{x-}{x-} was unable to catch up to the {a-}{a-}{5-}{2-} of his opponent and out he went after just a couple of hands.

Somerville Gets Sunk

PLO

We're not 100% sure when the money went in, but Jason Somerville ended up all in for his last 4,500 chips against Scott Montgomery. After the cards were all dealt the board read {10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and Somerville's {j-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for two pair couldn't beat Montgomery's {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} for a king-high flush.

Somerville was sent to the rail while Montgomery's stack grew to 21,000.
