Hellmuth Out; or, We've Had Our Phil

Level 18 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

Phil Hellmuth was just engaging both his table and some at the neighboring one over the phrase "anted to death like Broomcorn's uncle." No one seemed to know its origin, but Hellmuth seemed to be indicating it had some relevance to his current situation.

Down to about 55,000 (11 big blinds), Hellmuth open-raised on the button and got one caller in Russell Carson in the small blind. Hellmuth flipped over {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and was less than pleased when he saw Carson's {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {9-Hearts}{K-Spades}{7-Clubs}{J-Spades}{2-Diamonds}, and Hellmuth is out in 36th place. Carson, meanwhile, has collected about 265,000. And several compliments from his tablemates for his winning hand.
