20 Players, One Bracelet

With 20 left, Justin Filtz will enjoy a commanding lead when Day 3 begins
With 20 left, Justin Filtz will enjoy a commanding lead when Day 3 begins

Welcome to Day 3 of Event No. 40, where just 20 players from our original field of 732 remain. This $5,000 buy-in, short-handed NLHE event attracted a star-studded field of top poker talent, so it is no surprise that a number of poker's most known and respected players will be gathered around the final tables when play resumes a little over an hour from now.

All will be chasing Justin Filtz to start the day. Filtz grabbed the chip lead midway through Day 2 and never let it go, building a stack of just over 2 million chips by day's end. That's almost a full million ahead of second place Massimiliano Martinez, with 2010 WSOP Main Event eighth-place finisher Matt Jarvis close behind in third.

There are a number of other tough players, however, who'll be looking to climb up the counts page to challenge Filtz, and while their stacks will be smaller the blinds/antes still are, too, meaning there remains time for many to make a move. Among those starting today from the bottom ten are Shane "Shaniac" Schleger, 2010 WSOP ME champion Jonathan Duhamel, and four-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu who will be racing back and forth today between Event No. 40 and Day 2 of Event No. 42, the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship.

The first hands of Day 3 are scheduled to be dealt at 2:30 p.m. PT. Come back then for nonstop coverage here at PokerNews.
