Jeremy Menard was on the button and moved all in for his last 56,000. The small blind folded while Joe Ebanks called from the big.
Ebanks:
Menard:
"You're ahead," Menard observed. "That's alright, I'm going to hit a jack on the flop." Menard was optimistic, but he did not hit a jack on the flop . . . he hit two! The flop was kind to Menard while the turn left Ebanks drawing dead. Just to make things prettier, the dealer put out the to give Menard a full house.
Chris Moorman opened to 12,000 from early position, Phil Laak called from the cutoff, and John Conkright three-bet to 34,000 on the button. Moorman then four-bet to 74,000, Laak releasde, Conkright moved all in, and Moorman snapped it off.
Conkright:
Moorman:
Conkright was crushed, and did not improve as the board ran . He is our bubble boy, while the 48 remaining players are all guaranteed $19,159.
Action folded to a short-stacked Noah Schwartz in the small blind and he raised to 14,000. Bassel Moussa was in the big blind and settled on a three-bet to 40,000. Schwartz moved all in for 56,000 more and Moussa made the call.
Moussa:
Schwartz:
The entire table seemed surprised that Schwartz had a quality hand, which happened to make him a huge favorite. The board ran out an uneventful and Schwartz avoided becoming the bubble boy.
Chris Moorman raised to 12,000 from the hijack and was called by Phil Laak in the cutoff. Action folded to Greg Dyer in the big blind and he decided to put in a three-bet to 40,000. Moorman tank-called while Laak got out of the way.
Flop:
At this point, Dyer fired out 57,000 and sent Moorman, who is known to be slow and deliberate in his action, hit the tank. When he emerged, he slide forward a raise to 117,000. Dyer was not interested as he succumbed to the pressure and laid down his hand.
We're down to 49 players which means we have officially reached the bubble. The tournament staff has instructed the dealers to begin hand-for-hand play. This is a Championship Event, so the bubble could last awhile.
Max Weinberg opened to 11,000 from the cutoff, Thomas Middleton three-bet shoved for 142,000 from the small blind, and Matthew Hyman called in the big. Weinberg folded, and the hands were opened.
Middleton:
Hyman:
Middleton flopped a set when the dealer fanned , but Hyman had an inside straight draw and the gave him a flush draw as well. The river was the , giving him a straight, and Middleton was eliminated.
We are now on the bubble, and are playing hand-for-hand.
Gilbert Diaz raised to 10,000 from middle position only to have David "Devilfish" Ulliott move all in from the cutoff for 82,000. Action folded back to Diaz and he made the call.
Ulliott:
Diaz:
Ulliott was way ahead and poised to double on the flop; however, the hit the turn and provided Diaz with a flush draw. Much to Diaz's surprise, the dealer filled that flush when she put out the on the river.
The rest of the table, dealer included, were prepared for some harsh words from the Devilfish, but instead he rose from his chair, grabbed his trademark knuckle dusters, and quietly exited the tournament area.
