Lisandro Looking for More Gold

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Five-time WSOP bracelet winner Jeffrey Lisandro arrived to take his first hand at the start of Level 5. After nearly an hour he'd lost about half his starting stack of 4,500. Just now he limped from UTG and saw a flop of {2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} with the two players in the blinds. It checked to Lisandro who bet the pot, the SB called quickly, and the BB folded. The SB got the rest of his small stack in the middle versus Lisandro following the {9-Clubs} turn.

Lisandro showed {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and his opponent {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{J-Spades}. The river was the case jack -- the {J-Hearts} -- but the four in Lisandro's hand gave him jacks full and the hand. He's still only at about 2,200, however.

Basebaldy Doubles a Short Stack

Eric Baldwin limped from middle position and the called a raise to 700 from the player on the button. When the flop came down {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, Baldwin led out with a bet big enough to put his short-stacked opponent all in. A call was made and the cards were turned up.

Baldwin: {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Button: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Baldwin was in big trouble against the button's top set and flush redraw. The dealer burned and turned the {8-Spades}, which changed little. The {Q-Hearts} on the river meant the button scooped the pot, leaving Baldwin with 3,000.

Eric Baldwin
Eric Baldwin

While there is plenty of poker being played here in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-low Split-8 or Better, there is also plenty of tweeting. Eric @basebaldy Baldwin is a pretty active tweeter in his own right and known for making up such excellent trends as #whatsplayinginbethshaksheadphones and now today, #sportspokernames and #rapperpokernames

Baldwin is in the field today sitting with about 8,000 in chips and his side project has gotten quite a bit of reponse. Highlights so far have been, Lebron James Bord, Tristan Wade Boggs, Jennifer Harman Killebrew, Justin Young Jeezy, Amarillo Slim Shady, Brandon Steven Drew Breeze Zuckermann, Norman Chad Ocho Cinco and so many more.

We're keeping an eye on Basebaldy's chip stick AND on his twitter account.

Cantu Growing Stack

We came in when the flop {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{2-Clubs} was being dealt and there was already 1,500 in the pot. Brandon Cantu checked, the button player bet 600, another player folded and Cantu called.

The turn came {8-Spades} and both players checked. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Cantu bet out 2,500. His opponent tanked for nearly five minutes before finally calling and Cantu showed him {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{4-Clubs} for the flopped nut flush. Cantu moved up to 13,500

Traniello Taken Out

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

Daniel Negreanu was eliminated prior to our last break. And shortly after players returned for Level 5, Marco Traniello has followed him to the rail.

On a short stack, Traniello found himself in middle position and up against two players (both in the blinds) when the flop came {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{J-Spades}. It checked to Traniello who bet 1,000, the SB folded, then the BB raised enough to put Traniello all in and he made the call.

Traniello showed {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and his opponent {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. The turn brought the {8-Clubs} and the river the {7-Hearts}, which gave Traniello's opponent both the high (flush) and the low (7-5-4-3-A), busting Traniello.
