Bye-Bye, Binger

Limit Hold'em

Michael Binger raised from under the gun and was three-bet by Jonathan Lane. Binger made the call and the flop fell {6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{Q-Spades}. Binger led out and was raised by Lane. Binger decided to three-bet and Lane put a four-bet over the top. Binger capped it and the two saw a turn of {3-Spades}.

Binger led out again and Lane raised, putting Binger all in. Lane tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and Binger let out a frustrated sigh, flipping up {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}. The river hit {3-Diamonds} and Binger quickly gathered his belongings and headed out of the Amazon Room.

Fricke Takes a Hit

Level 11

LHE

After a flop of {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} the player in the big blind bet out and Jimmy Fricke called. The turn was the {9-Spades} and again the big blind bet and Fricke called. When the {2-Hearts} came on the river it was the same story with a bet and a call. The big blind proudly flipped over his {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} for an ace-high flush and Fricke mucked his hand.

After the hand Fricke still had nearly double the average stack with 133,000.

Nearing the Money Bubble

Level 11

Another table is being broken meaning we are down to 63 players and just nine spots away from the money. We just began the Limit Hold'em round of this level, so it is possible that we won't hit the money bubble too soon, but you never know!

Pescatori Sends Sorel Mizzi Soaring to the Rail

Max Pescatori
Max Pescatori

No Limit Hold'em

We managed to catch up to the action just in time to witness Sorel Mizzi raising preflop from early position making it 2,600. It folded around to Max Pescatori in the small blind who reraised and made it 6,200. Sorel Mizzi then took a mild tank session toying with his chips, thinking about his options before he ultimately three-bet and put out a 13,600 chip raise. Pescatori called and was allowed to see a flop.

{6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Spades} all made an appearance on the flop. Pescatori then checked, and Mizzi wasted no time and moved all in. Pescatori instantly called and flipped over {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} for a full house. Mizzi hopelessly showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades} for ace high. If Mizzi was going to win this hand he would need running aces or queens.

The {9-Hearts} slammed the door on all Mizzi's desperate hopes and Pescatori had it wrapped up with quad nines. A meaningless {8-Spades} then rolled off the deck for the river.

Hamby Holding On

Level 11
Jared Hamby - Still in the hunt
Jared Hamby - Still in the hunt

No Limit Hold'em

The cutoff raised to 3,100 and Jared Hamby raised all in for a total of 17,400 from the small blind which the cutoff called.

Hamby: {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Cutoff: {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}

The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and Hamby doubled his stack to a slightly more manageable 37,000.

Some Updated Chip Counts

Chip Lead For Cheong

Joseph Cheong
Joseph Cheong

No Limit Hold'em

Joseph Cheong made it 2,700 from the cutoff and the player in the small blind three-bet to 7,300. Action came back around to Cheong who quickly announced that he was all in. His opponent tanked for a while, shuffling chips back and forth and glancing up at the tournament clock every so often. Eventually he made the call and tabled {A-Spades}{J-Spades} and was ahead of Cheong's {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{5-Clubs} and his opponent was still in the lead. Cheong was able to drill the {Q-Clubs} on the turn, pairing him up and giving him the commanding lead of the hand. The {2-Diamonds} fell on the river and Cheong was able to send a player home and skyrocket into the chip lead.

Berilgen Hanging In There

Level 11

Jason Berilgen may not be a well known name in today's field but with 68 players remaining his stack is just below the average at 60,000. Jason wanted us to give a Happy Birthday shoutout to his friend Vijay Desai who is about to start his next round of of chemotherapy treatment. He wants to wish Vijay good luck, and hopefully Jason will have some luck in the upcoming rounds of today's tournament too.
