LaGarde Loses A Big One

Matt LaGarde
Matt LaGarde

On a flop of {a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} Matt LaGarde pushed all in and got a call from a player at his table with 86,000 behind. \

LaGarde showed {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} and his opponent had {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds} If LaGarde had won the pot it would've put him over the 400,000 chip mark and make him a massive chip leader. Unfortunately for him however, the {j-Hearts} came on the turn and the {8-Hearts} river was no help.

LaGarde still has quite a few chips with 210,000, but I'm sure he's thinking about what could've been had he held in that enormous pot.

Williams Vaults Volpe

Paul Volpe
Paul Volpe

Paul Volpe raised to 7,500 from early position and Kevin Williams made the call in late position. to see a very dry looking flop of {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. Both players checked the flop before Volpe also checked the {8-Clubs} turn and Williams bet 12,000, Volpe called before also checking the {6-Spades} river and Williams now fired 30,000. Volpe snap-called and Williams flipped {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for trip nines.

Vople, "He has a set? Sick, I have aces up..." flashing his cards before sending them into the muck.

Pierred Board

Pierre Neuville had raised all in on the river of a {3-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{3-Clubs} board for an additional 50,500 over what looked like a bet of 25,000. His opponent was tanking for several minute before asking, "Do you have a set...full house?"

Neuville didn't say anything but his opponent made the call and turned over {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}, Neuville flipped {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for the full house and scooped a big pot to move over the 200,000 mark.

Shane Schleger
Shane Schleger

Shane Schleger and another player at his table with about 95,000 got it all in on a flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The Chip Leaders, Russian to the Top

Team PokerStars Pro Max Lykov is up among the chip leaders, as is Stanislav Alekhin - the player who finished second to John Juanda in the WSOPE main event in 2009. But both are currently behind Canadian Vincent Jacques who is looking like he'll be the first person over the half-million mark.

Terrance Chan Gets The Boot

Terrence Chan
Terrence Chan

On a flop of {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} Sebastien Roy checked, an under-the-gun player bet out 16,500, Terrence Chan called, Roy moved all in for a total of 128,000, the under-the-gun player folded and Chan made the call.

Roy: {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Chan: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

Chan was in the lead with a pair of aces, but any diamond would essentially lock up the win for Roy. The turn came the {2-Diamonds} to give Roy the flush, and the river was a meaningless {5-Spades}. After a count, they found out that Roy had Chan covered and that was it for him.

As Chan hits the rail, Roy moves up to 245,000

Lunkin Climbs Back Up

We came into this pot with the board reading {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and 50,000 + already in the pot.

A middle position player bet 20,000 more into the pot on the river and Vitaly Lunkin called him down. The player showed {j-}{10-} for nothing but a missed straight draw, and Lunkin showed {a-}{a-} for the best starting hand in poker to hold up. Lunkin at one point was down to under 50,000, but now has built himself back up to around 180,000
