Volpe Leads With 638 Players Left To Start Day 2

Paul Volpe

Day 1a and Day 1b of Event #54: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em gave us 4,576 players looking to turn a $1,000 investment into $648,880 and a WSOP gold bracelet. We still have a massive field of 638 players left here on the combined Day 2, so while it won't take long for us to hit the 468 players who hit the money, we are still a long ways away from knowing who the serious contenders for the bracelet are going to be.

Leading the way into this huge Day 2 is a familiar name to some. Paul Volpe was in the midst of tearing up the online tournament felt before Black Friday hit and he is now our chip leader to start today with 124,500. Volpe already has four cashes at this years WSOP including a near final table miss in the recent $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8 Or Better where he came 12th.

While there are a smattering of other notables here and there throughout the counts such as Pierre Neuville, Fatima Moreira De Melo, Randy Lew, Brandon Cantu, Matt Stout, Paul "X22" Magriel and Devin Porter, it's still anyone's game to start today. We are starting up here in just a few minutes at 2:30 PST and the players are piling in to fill up the purple section of the Amazon Room as we speak.
