Souza's Swan Song

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Ryan Buckholtz raised to 26,000 from middle position and was called by Matt LaGarde from the hijack. Michael Souza then went all in from the button for a total of 157,000. Buckholtz folded but LaGarde decided to call putting Souza at risk.

Souza: {a-Clubs}{j-Spades}
LaGarde: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts} leaving Souza behind but still with hope, but then the turn brought the {9-Spades} giving LaGarde a boat and leaving Souza drawing dead. The river was a meaningless {q-Hearts} and Souza was eliminated while LaGarde chipped up to 600,000.

Seems Like a Dutch, A Dutch Too Much

Hendrik Alebregtse picked the wrong river to bluff on, it would seem. Against big blind Stanislav Alekhin, he raised preflop then fired 38,000 on the {3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{K-Diamonds} flop, 75,000 on {8-Clubs} turn and finally moved all in on the {J-Spades} river. But the Dutchman was caught and had to show {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for nothing at all, always behind to the Russian's {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} which had rivered two pair.

Mackinnon Doubles

Douglas Mackinnon ended up all in preflop holding the {4-Spades}{4-Hearts} but found he was behind to Jeffrey Manza's {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}. The flop brought the {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} which changed nothing. The turn was the {7-Clubs} giving Mackinnon an open-ended straight draw. The river came the {3-Hearts} completing Mackinnon's straight and allowing him to double his stack.

Olsen Doubles Through Neuville

Harald Olsen went all in preflop with the {a-Spades}{9-Hearts} and was called by Pierre Neuville who held the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. The flop came {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} putting Olsen in the lead with a pair of nines but giving Neuville a gutshot straight draw. The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and the river was the {2-Diamonds} and Olsen doubled up while Neuville's stack dropped to 220,000.
