Lamb vs. Hellmuth for WSOP Player of the Year

Level 18

Going into this event, Ben Lamb led the World Series of Poker Player of the Year race with 575.65 points. Phil Hellmuth sat in fourth place with 458.25 points. That's a 114.4-point difference and means that Hellmuth must earn that many more points than Lamb in order to overtake him.

Here's the current WSOP POY standings and we'll redirect you to the WSOP POY formula page for the info on that as it gets a little too confusing to explain. The two already had a little banter back and forth earlier, so this could also add some fuel to the fire.

The race is on for WSOP POY and it's Hellmuth versus Lamb for the title.

Rast Takes Chunk from Arieh

Stud

A number of bets went in the middle on this stud hand between a couple of the big stacks, Brian Rast and Josh Arieh.

Rast: (X)(X) / {2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{K-Spades} / (X)
Arieh: (X)(X) / {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{A-Spades} / (X)

Rast brought it in on third, then called after Arieh had completed. On fourth Arieh check-called Rast's bet, then on fifth Rast led with a bet which Arieh called again. When Arieh showed a pair of aces on sixth he bet, and Rast raised. Arieh paused a beat, then called. Arieh then check-called one more bet from Rast on seventh.

Rast turned over {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for aces and queens, and Arieh mucked.
