Pickett's Piling Up

Since the field has been reduced to 119 players, the action at the tables has slowed considerably, but Mike Pickett has quietly been accumulating chips to move up to almost 330,000.

From under the gun, Mike Pickett raised to 7,000 and another player in middle position called before the action folded around to the big blind, who also called to make it three-handed to a flop of {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}, which they all checked before the big blind led out for 10,000 on the turn of the {2-Diamonds}.

Pickett called and the middle position player folded, then the two players checked the river {K-Clubs} before the big blind showed down {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Pickett tabled {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for two pair to take down the pot.

Parker Takes One Down

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Action folded around to Brock Parker in late position who made it 6,500 to go. The player in the big blind made the call and the two players saw a flop of {8-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts}. The big blind checked and Parker bet out 9,500. A call was made and the {7-Clubs} came on the turn.

Both players checked fourth street and the {9-Spades} rivered. The big blind checked for a third time and Parker pushed out 11,500. The big blind folded and Parker took down the pot, bringing his stack to 118,000.

Zemel's Rough Day Ends

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

David Zemel has had a rough Day 2. After finishing second in chips last night, his stack slowly diminished throughout the day. Finally, he was in late position with a raise to 7,000 in front of him from Jason Gravatt and Zemel shoved his short stack. Action folded around back to Gravatt and he called.

Zemel: {A-Clubs} {6-Clubs}
Gravatt: {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}

The board ran {J-Spades} {6-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} and Zemel's tortuous day ended.

Holbrook Busto

Having taken a hit to his stack earlier in the day, Benjamin Volpe has now moved back up amongst the chip leaders after taking out Nick Holbrook.

On a board that read {10-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{9-Spades}, Holbrook bet out before Volpe shoved. Holbrook thought about it for some time before making the call, showing down {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for two pair, ahead of the {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} of Volpe.

However, the {J-Diamonds} spiked on the river to give Volpe Broadway and sent Holbrook on his way.

Lichtenberger's Kings Hold

Action opened with a player moving all in from middle position for 43,500. A player in late position made the call and it folded around to Andrew Lichtenberger in the big blind. Lichtenberger also moved all in for 50,000 and the late position player made the call.

Lichtenberger: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
All in Player: {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Late Position Player: {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}

The board fell {Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Lichtenberger's kings were able to hold, awarding him a nice sized pot and a bust out in the process.

Royal Flush is Cool for Katz

Having started Day 2 of this event with only 14,900 in chips, Daryl Katz is now up to more than 100,000 after sending Jameson Painter to the rail in style!

All the money was in the middle before the flop; Painter moved the last of his short stack in with {A-}{J-}, but was called down by Katz who showed {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}.

The flop of {10-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{A-Clubs} put Painter out in front and he kept it when the turn came the {8-Diamonds}. However, everyone jumped out of their skin when the dealer peeled off the river {Q-Clubs}. There wasn't much Painter could do but shrug his shoulders and move on out.

Marcello's Makin' Moves

Marcello Iacino is now up to 385,000 after taking out another opponent.

Our field reporter picked up the action between a player in early position and Iacino on a flop that read {7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Spades}; the early position player shoved for 98,500 with his {5-Spades}{5-Hearts} into a 55,000 pot, but was snapped off by Iacino who rolled up {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}.

Neither the turn of the {2-Clubs} nor the river {9-Clubs} changed the outcome and another one bites the dust.

Grudev Hits Philachack to Bump Up

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We found this developing at the turn with a pot of at least 130,000 already in it. The board showed {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {4-Hearts} and Grudi Grudev checked. Andy Philachack bet 55,500 and Grudev called. The river was {9-Diamonds}, Grudev checked and a deflated Philachack checked behind as well.

Grudev tabled {J-Clubs} {9-Hearts} for a rivered two pair and Philachack flashed {A-Hearts} {K-Hearts} for the nut flush draw. Philachack has fallen to 180,000 and Grudev has built his stack to 420,000.
