Rockets for "oerockets"

Level 1 : 200/400, 50 ante

A player with the {4-Spades} completed, Owais "oerockets" Ahmed completed with the {9-Hearts} showing, and the player who completed called. Ahmed picked up the {2-Diamonds}, and his opponent the {j-Hearts}. The player check-called a bet, and then check-folded on fifth street.

Ahmed showed two aces, and raked in the pot.

Bloch Down Early

Andy Bloch was moving tables recently, and he bumped into his friend Mike Matusow. Matusow was happy to see Bloch, and congratulated him, but was alarmed to see that Bloch had already lost a third of his stack.

"How the hell did you lose 10K already?" Matusow asked.

"I lost nine actually," Bloch answered. "And I had deuce-four-five-six and three diamonds one hand, and bricked."

George Starting Nicely

Christopher George has begun the tournament with a nice start. He's already up to 20,000 in chips, which is a profit of 5,000 on the day so far. Just recently we witnessed George scooping a nice pot with {10-}{10-}{8-}{7-}{5-}{4-}{3-} for a pair of tens and an eight low. His opponent couldn't beat either and mucked his hand.

Straight and a Low for Kelly

Dan Kelly: {x-}{x-} / {7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} / {x-}
Andrey Zaichenko: {x-}{x-} / {J-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Spades}{8-Clubs} / {x-}
Marco Johnson: {x-}{x-} / {K-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

We picked up the action on this hand on fifth street. Andrey Zaichenko was first to act with his pair of jacks and he bet. Marco Johnson called and then Dan Kelly raised. Zaichenko reraised and that knocked Johnson out of the way. Kelly called.

On sixth street, Zaichenko checked and Kelly bet. Zaichenko called. On seventh street, Zaichenko checked again and Kelly bet again. Zaichenko called.

"Straight," announced Kelly before he turned over the {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a seven-high straight. He also had a seven low and Zaichenko mucked his hand.

Shchemelev's Deuces Take it All

Mario Ho brought it in with the {2-Diamonds}, Vladimir Shchemelev completed with the {2-Hearts}, and Paul Volpe raised on his direct left with the {a-Spades}. The action folded back to Shchemelev who called.

Volpe check-called bets on both fourth and fifth street, and both players checked on sixth. The two checked again on seventh, and the hands were rolled over.

Volpe{x-}{x-} / {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} / {x-}
Shchemelev{x-}{x-} / {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Spades} / {x-}

Volpe turned over {j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, for absolutely nothing, and Shchemelev showed {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Clubs} for a pair of deuces.

Late Arrivals

Friedman Scoops

Perry Friedman and Marco Traniello were heads up on sixth street, with the boards looking like this:

Friedman{x-}{x-} / {7-Spades}{3-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} / {x-}
Traniello{x-}{x-} / {6-Hearts}{5-Spades}{j-Hearts}{q-Clubs} / {x-}

Friedman bet, Traniello called, and both players received a down card. Friedman bet again, and Traniello reluctantly called.

"Pair of aces and a seventy-six," Friedman announced, tabling {a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. Traniello released, and Friedmad scooped up the pot.

The 25K Fantasy League

Level 1 : 200/400, 50 ante

Fantasy poker ramps ump during the World Series of Poker, and no league is more talked about than Daniel Negreanu's 25K Fantasy League. This year, eleven teams ponied up $25,000 to compete in the league, and everyone met at the Aria before the series for the auction-style draft. Each team has 200 "dollars" to spend on players - you must spend at least one dollar per player - and the most expensive player this year was Phil Ivey ($99).

Unfortunately for Brian Hastings (the player who bought Ivey), he's received no points from him, because he hasn't cashed yet.

Negreanu himself is currently in the lead, thanks to Vanessa Selbst and, well, himself.

"She's a beast, she always crushed," he told his table mates moments ago.

Events like this one are especially important, because there's 1.5x accelerator in $5,000 events. In $10,000 events, the accelerator is 2x. We'll see if Negreanu can help himself here in Event 15, or if another team can benefit from another deep run from a notable player.
