"I Wish You Wouldn't Have Shown Me That"

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Frank Kassela called another player's all in and a third player was considering calling. After a short tank the third player folded {A-Diamonds} {K-} face up.

"I wish you wouldn't have shown me that," the all in player said as he tabled {A-Spades} {K-Diamonds}.

Kassela tabled pocket queens and watched the flop roll out {A-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {3-Spades}.

"Just unbelievable," Kassela said.

The board finished {10-Clubs} {5-Clubs} and Kassela seemed a tad grumpier.

Kassela Loses Some

It's been a rare sight to see chips go in the opposite direction of Frank Kessala's stack recently, but that has just happened over on his table. When we arrived, a board was showing {j-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Kassela was first to ace. He bet 14,000 and his opponent quickly called. The {j-Diamonds} completed the board on the river and with around 50,000 already in the pot, both players opted to check. Kassela turned over {k-Clubs}{6-Spades}, not good enough for his opponent's {7-}{7-}.

Currle Joins the Leaders

Jonathan Currle was flying under our radar until a few minutes ago. He's joining the chip leaders now with just over 400,000. Currle called a preflop shove by going over the top to isolate the short stack.

Currle: {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Spades} {9-Diamonds}

The board ran {K-Spades} {2-Clubs} {4-Clubs} {7-Spades} {Q-Clubs} and Currle spiked his queen on the river to eliminated his opponent.

Matusow Struggles

Mike Matusow is in need of some help, with the 3-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner currently sitting on a stack of less than ten big blinds. The hand that saw Matusow lose a bunch of his chips started when he and Keith Ferrera both committed 6,500 preflop.

A {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop was dealt on the felt and Ferrera led for 8,500. Matusow made the call and a {4-Hearts} was dealt on the turn. With three fours on the board, Ferrera again led, this time for 20,000. Another call from Matusow and a {6-Hearts} hit the river. Ferrera continued his betting here, throwing out another 41,000. Matusow went with a call and then mucked his cards as Ferrera turned over {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

Kassela In Charge

Frank Kassela has been raking in pots all over the place this afternoon and that hasn't stopped during the current level. Recently Kassela was involved in a hand that started with him opening it to 6,000 from under the gun. Only the player directly on his left made the call and a {3-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop was dealt.

On the flop, Kassela led for 9,000 and his opponent quickly made the call as a {5-Spades} hit the turn. This time Kassela would be 19,000 and his opponent would think hard. Eventually the cards went into the muck and Kassela took down the pot.

Matros Making it Happen

When we came to Matt Matros' table there was a board showing {3-Clubs}{a-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{q-Clubs} and Matt Matros was involved in a hand with one opponent. At this point there was almost 60,000 already in the pot and Matros was busy firing out a bet of 38,000. Matros' opponent went deep into the tank and eventually opted to fold as Matros took down the handy pot.
