Selbst Won't Take No Sass

Alan Sass was just eliminated by Vanessa Selbst. When we got to the table, Alan had moved all in from the cutoff for around 180,000, and Selbst called from the big blind with her covering stack.

Sass{7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Selbst{10-Clubs}{10-Spades}

The flop would end all nonsense when it fell {10-Diamonds} {4-Spades}{10-Hearts} though.

"I don't think I can beat quads," Sass said.

The turn and river were the meaningless {K-Spades} and {Q-Clubs} and Sass was already drawing dead on the flop.

Selbst has about 470,000 after that hand.

Selbst Doubles Up Popatia

Vanessa Selbst limped into the pot from late position, John Juanda completed from the small blind before Azim Popatia raised to 40,000 from the big blind. Selbst made the call, Juanda folded and we were heads-up heading to the flop.

Flop: {K-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {2-Spades}

"I am all-in," said Popatia.

"How much is it? This really sucks…I was hoping to hit a pair but now I have something else…I wasn't prepared for this option…this really sucks," said Selbst before making the call.

Popatia{A-Spades} {2-Clubs}
Selbst{Q-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}

So Popatia had bottom pair and Selbst had an open-ended straight draw, backdoor flush draw and two over cards. So in actuality Selbst was only a 48% dog against the bottom pair.

Turn: {4-Spades}

Selbst chances dropped to 30%

River: {5-Clubs}

Selbst chances drop to zero and now she has to endure a poker story from Popatia, something we are sure she is not going to enjoy.

Candida Ross-"Loses Her" Powers

Candida Ross-Powers ultra aggressive pre flop strategy has just imploded in her face. Ross-Powers raised to 23,000, Andras Stumpf made a standard three-bet before Ross-Powers moved all-in for close to 200,000 chips. Stumpf made the call and we had a showdown with Ross-Powers all over the place.

Stumpf{A-Clubs} {K-Spades}
Ross-Powers{A-Spades} {4-Diamonds}

Board: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {7-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {3-Hearts}

Ross-Powers was pleading for a four but it never materialised and she was out. Stumpf meanwhile was up to 540,000 chips.

Turker Eliminates Soucy

Sadan Turker raised to 13,000 in the hijack seat and Paul Soucy moved all-in from the cutoff for 63,500. After a lot of unnecessary debate between the dealer and Turker over the actual count, Turker did call, and we had a showdown.

Turker{A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}
Soucy{A-Spades} {K-Hearts}

Soucy clapped his hands and rose to his feet in anticipation of his likely double up.

Flop: {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} {3-Spades}

Soucy could see that there was a straight draw possibility and his hands moved to his head.

Turn: {5-Diamonds}

The pressure was starting to show on the face of Soucy, "three of clubs, three of clubs, three of clubs," screamed Soucy.

River: {3-Diamonds}

It was a three, but it wasn't a club. Instead is was a rosy red diamond that glinted in the corner of the eye of Turker - Soucy was out!

Aces, Aces and Kings For Willerson

That sounds like he must have around half a million chips now, but too bad he lost all-in pre flop with pocket aces twice. Paul Wasicka told us how he lost all-in pre flop against pocket tens the first time and just a couple of hands later it was Kennii Nguyen who got his money in with {6-Spades}{7-Clubs} against, once again, the pocket aces of Neil Willerson. We saw the following showdown for a pot worth over 200,000.

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Nguyen's two pair took the pot down. Another couple of hands later Willerson got his last 67,000 chips into the middle with {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} against {7-}{7-} and after the board showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs} Willerson finally had a hand hold up. He is now back up to 155,000 chips and still in the hunt, but oh boy his stack could have been massive!
