Merrifield Check-Shoves Turn Against Paez

Picking up the action on the connected {7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, Steve Merrifield checked and Raul Paez fired 5,500. Merrifield made the call.

Fourth street was the {3-Hearts} and Merrifield checked again. Paez upped his bet and slid out 10,000. Merrifield check-raised all in for 60,200 and Paez gave it up.

Ressler and Igin Clashing

The overnight chip leader Joseph Ressler and Viacheslav Igin have been playing quite a few pots together at Table #429 and here is the latest installment.

The action folded around to Ressler, who was seated on the button, and he raised to 2,400. Igin was in the big blind and he three-bet to 7,600 and Ressler called. The flop was {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {4-Spades} and Igin made a 10,000 c-bet, which Ressler called. Onto the turn and Igin tapped the felt, Ressler bet 120,000 and Igin called. That was the last bet to enter the pot as the {2-Diamonds} was checked through and Igin took the pot holding{A-Clubs} {A-Hearts} {10-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}; Ressler mucked his hand.

Igor Sharaskin Eliminates Nam Le

Talking about flopping the world!

Nam Le and Igor Sharaskin just played for stacks on a flop of {8-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. Le was holding {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {4-Clubs} for the nut flush draw and open ended straight draw, and Sharaskin was holding {A-Spades} {8-Spades} {6-Hearts} {5-Clubs} for top two pair. But despite Sharaskin having the best hand at that time, Le was actually the favourite. Le did hit one of his outs when the {7-Spades} hit the turn but the cruel {8-Clubs} on the river gave Sharaskin eights-full and Le was out.

Igor Sharaskin has cashed in 3 World Series of Poker (WSOP) events including 2 Pot-Limit Omaha events in last years series recording an impressive 4th place in the $1,500 Hi/Lo version for $42,870.

Paez Busts Saul

From early position, Kevin Saul raised to 2,400. A player called in middle position and then Raul Paez reraised from the button to 11,100. Saul called and the other player folded.

The flop came down {10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Saul check-called a bet of 20,000 from Paez before seeing the {10-Diamonds} land on the turn and pair the board. Saul moved all in for 46,000 and Paez tank-called. Saul held the {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs} for an overpair of queens. Paez held the {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for an overpair of aces and a diamond flush draw.

The river card was the {7-Hearts} and Paez won the hand to eliminate Saul. With that pot, Paez moved to over 200,000 in chips.

Chino Rheem Eliminates Two Players

Chino Rheem is not a quiet man, and lucky for us that he isn't. We heard him talking above a haggle of people over at Table #432 and darted over there as fast as we could. Rheem had two short stacks all-in and one of them was Guillaume Darcourt. We saw that Rheem was holding {A-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} for broadway on a {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} {10-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {K-Diamonds} board. Rheem moved up to 120,000 and Darcourt and the third player in the hand are out.

Blind on Blind: Stein v Scott

We joined the action on a flop of {10-Spades} {5-Clubs} {3-Hearts} and Austin Scott (SB) and Sam Stein (BB) were embroiled in a spot of blind on blind action. Stein check-called a 3,200 bet and did the same, this time for 6,700, on the turn {2-Spades}. The final card was the {A-Spades} and a whole host of draws were made. Scott came off the ropes to bet 7,500 and a disappointed looking Stein mucked his hand.
