Sugar Bear Eliminated

Stud 8:

An unknown player in Seat 2 had the bring-in with the {4-Hearts} and was met with a completion by Al "Sugar Bear" Barbieri, who was fresh off a third-place finish in Event 13: $1,500 Limit Hold'em for $84,388. A player in Seat 7, who was showing the {2-Spades}, made the call as did the bring-in and it was three-way action to the turn.

Barbieri proceeded to bet, which both his opponents called, and then he fired again on fifth street. Seat 2 got out of the way while Seat 7 called and then raised when Barbieri bet sixth. The raise was enough to cover the short-stacked Sugar Bear, and he committed his stack.

Barbieri: (2c}{6-Clubs} / {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} / {7-Hearts}
Seat 7: {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} / {2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{A-Hearts} / {3-Diamonds}
Seat 2: (x-x) / {4-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} fold

Seat 7 had a low but needed help if he was going to take the high. Unfortunately for Barbieri, the {3-Diamonds} on seventh gave his opponent a pair and the scoop. "Good game guys," Barbieri said. The Sugar Bear was no doubt looking to improve on his second-place finish in this very event back in 2010, but those dreams have been dashed as he became one of the day's early eliminations.

The Elite Are Here

Level 3

Former WSOP Player of the Year winners Allen Cunningham and Jeff Madsen are seated at the same table here in the Brasilia Room. The room hosts the banners of each of the award winners since 2004, and Cunningham is faced directly toward his banner in the back corner. 2010 Player of the Year Frank Kassela is seated at an adjacent table and is within view of his banner, as well.

Daniel Negreanu, Jeff Lisandro, Tom Schneider and Erick Lindgren are also in the house, which means the only former POY we're missing is 2011 honoree Ben Lamb.

"You Get to Rub Me"

Level 3

We spent some time over at Table 89 to try and catch some action, which didn't seem like it'd be too hard since it plays host to Daniel Negreanu, Xuan Liu, David "ODB" Baker and Perry Friedman. Unfortunately we didn't catch any notable hands, but we were there when Negreanu shouted, "Hey you, over here."

At first we thought he was walking to us, but then we saw the massage therapist approaching. "It's your lucky day," Negreanu told the young lady. "You get to rub me. You're going to love it, trust me, all this positive energy."

We've seen Negreanu shutoff in a few tournaments this summer with his headphones on, but today he seems energetic, excited and chipper.

We were recently informed that approximately 11 tables were opened in the Amazon Room. We took a jaunt over to see who's located there, and the list is impressive.
