Day 2 Started
Today, the 2012 World Series of Poker Event #27 $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. will continue with Day 2 action as will the remaining 165 players of an 889-player field battle past the money bubble on their way to the final table. The $1,200,150 prize pool will be distributed to the top 96 players, which will secure each a minimum $2,676 payday, though everyone has their eyes firmly fixed on the $267,081 first-place prize.
Karle “Skip” Wilson begins the day as chip leader with 74,900, but plenty of players a nipping at his heels including Steve Brown (73,600), Jason Brown (71,200), Brandon Guss (63,800), Clifton Ward (61,600), Daniel Idema (58,100), Justin Young (57,000), Mike O’Donnell (56,300), Allen Cunningham (55,200), Huck Seed (52,000), Chip Jett (49,000) and David Williams (45,600), just to name a few.
Who will be the next to add their name to the list of H.O.R.S.E. winners? While we won’t answer that questions here today, we’ll certainly narrow the list as five poker disciplines are practiced: Limit Hold’em, Omaha Eight or Better, Razz, Seven Card Stud, and Seven Card Stud Eight or better.

We've hit the starting time, and the cards have gone flying.
We're starting with Stud this afternoon.
We know he was eliminated late last evening, but we still thought you might enjoy the latest edition of the PokerNews Podcast with 2011 $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. champ, Aaron Steury.
In the latest installment, the PokerNews crew breaks down all the news from the WSOP, previews Day 3 of the $5,000 Omaha Eight-or-Better Split event, and talks to Aaron "NDGrinder" Steury about defending his title in the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event.

We're not sure how we missed him on Day 1 (probably because he wasn't wearing his patented blue and yellow striped shirt), but Konstantin Puchkov is in the field. He won this tournament two years ago by defeating 828 players to capture a $256,820 first-place prize.
Puchkov is in good shape to make a run at this year's title as he begins the day with 38,000.

John Esposito came into the day with a short stack of 5,500, and Adam Geyer wasted no time stealing that. We picked up the action on fourth street, heads-up.
Geyer: (x-x) / / (x)
Esposito: (x-x) / / (x)
Esposito called a bet on fourth street, and his small raise on fifth put him all in reluctantly. Geyer revealed in the hole, and his hand improved to the flush promptly on sixth. Esposito's was drawing dead by that time, and he's been eliminated here in the early going.

That Geyer table is a tough one to start this Day 2. It's number 418 here in the Purple section of the Amazon Room, and it seats Adam Geyer (1), Cary Katz (2), Bryan Devonshire (3), Mickey Appleman (4), and David Plastik (7).
"Seat open," has become a familiar call here in the first 15 minutes of Day 2. The short stacks are busting fast, and we've put together a list of some of the early eliminations:

We just saw a Jason Mercier picking his way through the tables and out toward the rail. We weren't sure if he had been eliminated or not, but then he started giving off a ton of tells. Walking briskly, staring at the carpet, shaking his head, man bag over shoulder, big sigh of disgust.
Yep, Mercier is out.
