Rasmussen Back In It

Robby Rasmussen
Robby Rasmussen

Stud Hi/Lo:

In the last hand of Stud Hi/Lo, Elior Sion completed with the {A-Diamonds} and received a call from Robby Rasmussen, who was showing the {7-Diamonds}. Sion proceeded to bet the turn, Rasmussen called, and then the latter bet after the former checked fifth.

Sion called the bet and then check-called bets on both sixth and seventh.

Sion: (x-x) / {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} / (x) ({2-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{7-Spades})
Rasmussen: (x-x) / {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{K-Spades} / (x) ({3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{A-Hearts})

Rasmussen made a pair of deuces for the high, which ended up being good, and his seven-perfect downed Sion's 7-6-3-2-A to scoop the pot.

Schwartz Bites Chidwick

Limit Hold'em:

Stephen Chidwick raised the button, and Ylon Schwartz defended his big blind to go heads-up.

The flop came {2-Clubs} {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds}, and Schwartz check-raised. Chidwick bet-called, then called another of Schwartz's bets on the {8-Spades} turn. The river paired the board with the {8-Hearts}, and Schwartz had already bet in the dark, leaving just 15,000 behind once again. Chidwick tanked and called.

Schwartz showed down {2-Hearts} {2-Diamonds}, and his full house was plenty good. It's a big pot for Schwartz, and it bumps him back ahead of his opponent in that pot.

Chidwick went on to lose the next hand as well. After three-betting preflop and losing one small bet thereafter in that hand, he's slipped back to the short stack with 470,000.

Even in limit poker — maybe especially in limit poker — things change quickly.

Schwartz Takes the Lead

Ylon Schwartz
Ylon Schwartz

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Action folded to Robby Rasmussen in the cutoff and he put in a raise, which Ylon Schwartz called from the big blind. Both players proceeded to check the {10-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop before Schwartz led out on the {2-Diamonds} turn. Rasmussen made the call but then tanked for a solid minute when Schwartz bet the {Q-Diamonds} river. Eventually he made the call but mucked upon seeing Schwartz's hand . . . {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

Chidwick Chops and Chips Up

Omaha Hi/Lo:

Elior Sion raised the button, and both blinds defended — Robby Rasmussen and Stephen Chidwick, respectively.

Three ways, the dealer laid out a {5-Clubs} {7-Clubs} {4-Spades} flop, and action checked to the raiser. Sion bet, Rasmussen called, and Chidwick check-raised to two bets. Sion reraised to three bets, and that folded Rasmussen. Chidwick put in the fourth bet, though, and Sion called.

The {K-Hearts} turned, and Chidwick bet all in for 95,000. When the call came, the cards were tabled.

Showdown
Sion: {A-Diamonds} {10-Spades} {7-Hearts} {6-Spades}
Chidwick: {K-Spades} {Q-Spades} {7-Spades} {6-Clubs}

Sion had the low half locked up, and Chidwick could only chop the high at worst. He was in front as the cards laid, though, and the {7-Diamonds} gave him sevens full and half the pot. He also gathers 75,000 of Rasmussen's money, earning a much needed chip boost in that process.

Elior Sion Eliminated in 5th Place ($55,422)

Stud:

Elior Sion completed with the {A-Spades} only to have Robby Rasmussen raise with the {Q-Hearts}. Sion made the call and then led out on the turn. Rasmussen made the call and then raised Scion's bet on fifth street. Sion then three-bet his last 90,000 and Rasmussen made the call.

Sion: {K-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} / {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} / {3-Clubs}
Rasmussen: {Q-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} / {Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} / {K-Hearts}

Rasmussen turned two pair and was in the lead, but Sion held kings and had plenty of outs. Unfortunately for him, none would be delivered and he was felled in fifth place for $55,422.
