Kaverman Almost Makes an Epic Fold

Byron Kaverman had the button, and opened to 1,200. Brian Rast three-bet to 3,200 from the small blind, and the action folded back to Kaverman, who called. The dealer fanned {q-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {2-Clubs} , and Rast checked. Kaverman continued for 3,700, and Rast called.

The turn was the {q-Spades} , pairing the board, and Rast checked again. Kaverman fired another bullet - this one was worth 7,200 - and Rast called.

The {10-Clubs} completed the board, and Rast checked a third time. Kaverman tanked for thirty second or so, then slid out 13,400. Rast thought for a bit, then asked Kaverman to raise his arms, so he could examine his stack.

"I'm all in," Rast announced, pushing out enough purple T500 chips to make the call, and then two towers of purple chips followed by a tower of yellow T1,000 chips.

Kaverman's eyebrows raised. The bet was about 40,000, and for the better part of the next five minutes, Kaverman tanked, riffling a dozen or so green T25 chips with his hand. Nobody at the table said a word. Eventually, the gentleman in the four seat got up to stretch, and Isaac Haxton, who is in the one seat, did the same. A waiter came by about halfway through the tank, and placed a coffee on Kaverman's side. Haxton, who also ordered the coffee, tipped the gentleman $2 - perhaps he was tipping for two.

"I think I'm nit-rolling," Kaverman said, breaking the silence.

Haxton chuckled briefly, then the silence returned. Finally, Kaverman grabbed all of his yellow chips and dropped them forward. Rast turned over {q-Clubs} {10-Diamonds} for queens full of tens, and to the surprise of everyone, Kaverman tabled {7-Spades} {7-Diamonds} for sevens full of queens.
