Castro Makes a Straight

In many games that title would mean the player would've won the pot, but not today. Richard Castro is down to just 12,400 chips after just losing an important pot for his stack.

Castro raised to 4,000 from the cutoff after which Cantu made it 15,000 to go from the button. Both blinds folded and Castro tanked for a bit before making the call.

Castro drew one card, Cantu stood pat.

After receiving his card Castro decided to check and Cantu followed his action quickly.

"Straight," Castro said sounding disappointing as he showed his {7-}{6-}{5-}{4}{3-}. Cantu turned over {J-}{7-}{6-}{5-}{2-} and raked in another pot.

Lindgren Doubles, Mizrachi Pays Off

Erick Lindgren
Erick Lindgren

Erick Lindgren made the difficult decision to break a jack when all-in and faced with an opponent who stood pat. It turned out to be the right decision and he sneaked in a double-up.

Michael Smith raised to 4,600 from the cut-off and called, and then stood pat, when Lindgren three-bet all in for 22,200 from the button.

Smith opened his pat {9-}{8-}{7-}{3-}{2-} but just lost out to his Lindgren's {9-}{8-}{6-}{4-} - {2-}.

Over on the next table Michael Mizrachi called a chunky bet from Ryan Tepen and mucked upon seeing the latter's {10-}{8-}{6-}4x]{2-}.

Smith in Danger

From the big blind Larry Wright just took one card after which Michael Smith, who was under the gun, stood pat.

Wright checked to his opponent who bet 4,500, and quickly he made the call.

Smith turned over {10-}{8-}{6-}{5-}{3-} but that wasn't good enough against {9-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{2-}. Smith is one of the short stacks with just under ten big blinds left.

Jennifer Harman Eliminated in 19th Place ($3,762)

Jennifer Harman
Jennifer Harman

The lovely Jennifer Harman has been eliminated by Michael Mizrachi, who's right back on the heels of Brandon Cantu.

We saw Harman leaving her seat and we dashed over to see that she drew one and paired up with {8-}{6-}{5-}{2-} - {8-}. Mizrachi had {10-}{9-}{5-}{4-}{2-} out in front of him and took the pot.

Richard Castro Eliminated in 18th Place ($3,762)

Richard Castro
Richard Castro

Richard Castro was really short, and he just lost his final chips against chip leader Brandon Cantu.

Castro told us he drew two cards and ended up with {A-}{10-}{6-}{5-}{3-} while Cantu stood pat with a monster hand, {8-}{6-}{4-}{3-}{2-}.

We are down to 17 players, and there will be another redraw as soon as we reach the final 14.

Bradley Libson Eliminated in 17th Place ($3,762), Michael Smith Eliminated in 16th Place ($3,762)

Michael Smith - 17th Place
Michael Smith - 17th Place

We missed Bradley Libson's exit but it was Erick Lindgren who came back and finished the job off on Michael Smith.

Lindgren raised from under the gun and called when Smith shoved. Smith stood pat with {j-}{10-}{8-}{6-}{5-}.

Lindgren was in great shape to win with {8-}{6-}{3-}{2-}. He need to avoid a pair or any card higher than a jack. He managed that with a {10-}.

Jesse Martin Eliminated in 15th Place ($3,762)

Jesse Martin
Jesse Martin

Erick Lindgren is on a roll and knocked out another player. He raised from the cut-off and called when Jesse Martin moved all in for around 36,000 from the big blind.

"Damn," said Lindgren when Martin tank-stood pat. That seemed to force him into breaking a card.

Martin opened {9-}{8-}{6-}{4-}{2-}.
Lindgren had {8-}{4-}{3-}{2-} and drew a {6-} to lock up the hand.

The tournament is down to a two-table affair now, and the players have been redrawn again. We'll bring the new draw to you very shortly.
