Ace-High Wins

Level 1

Stud 8:

Daniel Negreanu{x-}{x-} / {7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} / {x-}
Luke Schwartz{x-}{x-} / {2-Spades}{k-Spades}{9-Clubs} (FOLDED)
Ben Yu{x-}{x-} / {2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Spades} / {x-}

We caught up with the action on fourth street, where all three players checked. On fifth, the action checked to Negreanu, who bet, and only Yu called. On sixth, and seventh, both players checked.

Yu turned over {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} for ace-high and no low, and Negreanu started laughing.

"I had a straight flush draw," he said aloud. "And ace-high wins."

"Just bad luck," Yu responded, grinning.

The Pirate Says

Level 1

Normally, we tend to deem one table in an event as the "Table of Death," but we've just been told by Barry Levy that there's a better way to say it.

First off, this event is stacked and every table is packed with notable faces, including the one right in front of us that Levy is seated at. Here's how it looks:

SeatPlayer
1David "ODB" Baker
2David Benyamine
3Barry Levy
4David "Bakes" Baker
5Ralph Perry
6Allen Kessler
7Roland Israelvishi
8Freddy Deeb

Levy, who is also known as "The Pirate," came over and told us, "When you die and go to hell, this is the game and these are the players."

Israel and Baker Chop Up Benyamine

Level 1

Stud 8:

David Baker{x-}{x-} / {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{10-Clubs} / {x-}
David Benyamine{x-}{x-} / {5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} / {x-}
Roland Israelvishi{x-}{x-} / {6-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} / {x-}

We reached Table 353 on fourth street, where the action was capped. On fifth street, Israelvishi led out, both Baker and Benyamine called. On sixth street, Israelvishi led out again, and both players came along.

On seventh, Israelvishi slowed down, checking. Baker and Benyamine checked behind. Israelvishi tabled {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a pair of aces and an eighty-six low, and Baker showed {j-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for two pair. Benyamine mucked, and Baker and Israelvishi chopped the pot.

#JBL

Level 1

If you follow Jason Mercier and/or Matt Glantz on Twitter, than you've probably seen them use the hashtag #justbadluck or #JBL - it's basically the newer, cooler version of #whenwillitend.

Well, Mercier and Glantz took the hashtag to a new level, and made matching aqua t-shirts with "Just Bad Luck!" printed on them. They're both sporting them here in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship event, which is cute to say the least.
