My Straight is Bigger Than Yours

Hans Winzeler raised to 16,000 from first position and was called by Dimitar Danchev on the button, as well as Scott Bohlman in the big blind.

The flop fell {7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Winzeler continued for 37,000. Danchev was the only caller before both players checked through the {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts} turn and river.

Both players announced they had straights at the same time. Winzeler took the pot though as his was to a nine with {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, whereas Danchev's was only to an eight.

The Two Davids Collide

David Benyamine down but not yet out
David Benyamine down but not yet out

The two Frenchmen have collided and it is David Benyamine who has been left licking his wounds.

Benyamine raised to 16,000 in the cutoff, David Colin called in the small blind and Jason DeWitt also called in the big blind. The flop was {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} {8-Spades} and the action checked to Benyamine who bet 34,000. Back to Colin and he check-raised to a stack committing 150,000. DeWitt had a very difficult decision on his hands, but eventually decided to fold; Benyamine made the call. So off to the turn and everyone knew what was going to happen next.

Turn: {4-Hearts}

Colin moved all-in and Benyamine made the call.

Colin{A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {8-Hearts}
Benyamine{K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}

So Benyamine had two-pair and the open-ended straight draw, while Colin had the same two pair with a gutshot.

River: {J-Spades}

Benyamine's hands flew up into the air as did DeWitt (who was no longer in the hand). Colin had rivered a straight in a huge pot. DeWitt told the table he reluctantly folded the nut flush hence his reaction. Benyamine looked to his girl on the rail and showed her his chips before getting back his head back into the action.

We hung around for an orbit thinking he would be in another showdown but as of yet there is no movement from our World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet holder.

Kitai Moving All-In & Benyamine Doubling Up

Chris De Maci raised to 19,000 under the gun, Tommy Le called on the button before Davidi Kitai three-bet the pot, making it 80,000 to play. De Maci made the call and Le made the fold. The flop was {8-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {4-Spades}, Kitai moved all-in and De Maci mucked his hand.

In the adjacent table David Benyamine and David Colin were at it again, only this time the fortunes were reversed. Both players settling their argument pre flop.

Benyamine{K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {2-Clubs}
Colin{Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}

Board: {A-Hearts} {6-Spades} {8-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {8-Hearts}

Benyamine had 94,000 and so he doubles up to 192,000.

Kitai Creeping Up

Davidi Katai
Davidi Katai

Davidi Kitai is quietly working his way up the chip counts, and that is an ominous sign for his opponents.

He opened to 17,000 from the button and Kevin MacPhee peeled to see a {3-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop. Both players check and MacPhee led for 19,000 on the {4-Spades} trurn.

Kitai called and bet 24,000 on the {9-Clubs} river when MacPhee checked to him. MacPhee called and mucked when Kitai opened {4-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} for a straight.

DeWitt Beats Up On Colin

Jason DeWitt has just won a few decent sized pots from David Colin.

In the first hand we caught the action on the turn. The board was showing {J-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {8-Spades}, DeWitt had checked out of the small blind, Colin had bet 46,000 on the button and DeWitt was in the tank. Eventually, Daniel Hindin called for the clock and during the countdown DeWitt made a very late call. The river was the {3-Spades} and both players checked.

"I got it," said DeWitt who turned over {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Spades} for the nut flush and Colin mucked his hand.

Next Colin raised to 16,000 in the cutoff and DeWitt three-bet to 60,000 on the button; Colin Called. The flop was {10-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {4-Diamonds} and Colin check-folded to a DeWitt pot-sized bet.

David Benyamine Eliminated in 14th Place ($20,579)

David Benyamine - 14th Place
David Benyamine - 14th Place

The overnight chip leader, and World Series of Bracelet holder, David Benyamine, is out of this competition; and of course it was Naoya Kihara who brought down the guillotine.

Kihara raised to 18,000 on the button, Benyamine three-bet to 62,000 from the small blind and the fearless Kihara called.

Flop: {7-Spades} {4-Hearts} {3-Hearts}

Benyamine moved all-in for 125,000 and Kihara made the call.

Kihara{K-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {10-Hearts} {3-Diamonds}
Benyamine{K-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds}

Kihara held a pair of threes and Benyamine a pair of kings.

Turn: {Q-Hearts}

Kihara made two-pair and Benyamine was gutted. The river {J-Hearts} sealing the deal and the Frenchman was out in 14th place. Kihara moved upwards and onwards with 1,335,000.

David Colin Eliminated in 13th Place ($20,579)

Oh my! The beauty and the pain of Pot-Limit Omaha!

It was not that long ago that David Colin doubled up through David Benyamine to move into 2nd spot. With 13 players remaining you could forgive the young Frenchman for having a thought or two about World Series gold. Then before you could say P.L.O he was gone!

He lost back-to-back pots against Jason DeWitt before getting embroiled in a pot against our chip leader Naoya Kihara. Kihara told us that Colin check-raised the flop and moved all-in on the turn on a board showing {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {8-Clubs} and Kihara made the call.

Kihara{A-Spades} {10-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}
Colin{9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {4-Hearts}

Kihara with two-pair versus the draws of Colin. everybody waiting with baited breath for the river card and it was the {7-Diamonds} giving Colin his straight…but also handing Kihara a winning flush.

Sebastian Bastian Eliminated in 12th Place ($26,349)

Sebastian Bastian - 13th place
Sebastian Bastian - 13th place

We have lost the flowing red-feathered hat of Sebastian Bastian.

Bastian must have lost a pot beyond our eyesight because when he raised to 34,000 in first position he was extremely short. The action folded around to Kevin MacPhee in the big blind and he made the call. The flop was {J-Diamonds} {6-Hearts} {5-Clubs}, MacPhee put Bastian all-in and he called.

MacPhee{A-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {2-Clubs}
Bastian{K-Spades} {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {6-Clubs}

So Bastian was ahead with the over pair, but MacPhee had his drawing outs and the {3-Diamonds} was exactly what MacPhee ordered. The {Q-Clubs} bricking for Bastian and he was out.
