Duhamel Profits from Rand's Accidental Raise

Jonathan Duhamel
Jonathan Duhamel

When we reached Table 366, Kevin Rand and Jonathan Duhamel were heads up with the board reading {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}. Rand check-called a bet, and the river was the {9-Diamonds}.

Rand checked, Duhamel bet, and Rand tossed in what looked like 1,300, intending to call. Duhamel argued that this was a raise however, and the floor was called. The floor person confirmed Duhamel's beliefs, and Rand was forced to make it 1,600. Duhamel quickly made it three bets, and Rand tank-called.

Duhamel tabled two black aces for aces full, and Rand mucked.

"I didn't..." Duhamel began. "It's just the rule."

Rand nodded in agreement, and Duhamel scooped the pot.

Ship it to Armenia

Chris Grigorian, the self-proclaimed Armenia Express, was heads up with Shawn Buchanan with the board reading {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. Buchanan check-called a bet, and the turn brought the {7-Clubs}. Both players checked.

The {5-Clubs} completed the board, and Buchanan led out, leaving just 1,400 or so behind.

"Wow," Grigorian blurted.

He looked at his own stack, examined Buchanan's stack, then raised. Buchanan smiled, then went into the tank.

"Ship it to Armernia or ship it to Canada," Grigorian announced. "It's up to you."

Buchanan decided to fold {a-}{j-} face up, and Grigorian tabled {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a flush. It was a brilliant fold by Buchanan, but saving his bets didn't help - he was eliminated a few hands later.
