On The Rail

Weisner Gets the Fold

When we heard the floor staff called over to Table 15, we thought nothing of it. But then when we looked a little closer we realized that the hand involved Melanie Weisner who had bet out 2,500 into one opponent with a big pot already in the middle. The hand in question had a board showing {7-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{4-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and the floor had been called over because Weisner's opponent had called the clock on himself.

Eventually the player made the fold and sent the big pot to Weisner and as Weisner raked in her chips the players, said, "Ah! I hate this game, bring back the blinds!"

8 Bracelets Out & 12 Bracelets In

Phil Ivey was here for all of 20 minutes or so at the most. We talked to his table and Ivey opened for 500 and Thomas Conway raised to 1,000. Ivey moved with the rest of his stack and Conway called.

Conway: {K-} {K-}
Ivey: {J-} {J-}

The board ran low and Ivey was eliminated from a tournament for the second time today, albeit this one was just 5% of the entrance fee of the Poker Players' Championship.

Phil Hellmuth has joined the action. He sat down at Tristan Wade's table and will be hunting for his 13th today.

The Ante King

Scanning the room and we noticed that one player was sitting at the tables wearing a World Series of Poker Circuit ring. A friendly chap on the rail then let us us know that this player was in fact Jeffrey Dobrin, who won his ring in the very first ante-only event that the WSOP held.

It was just a couple of months ago, with Dobrin managing to overcome a field of 203 players to pocket the $25,391 first-place prize. A gold bracelet sure would go nicely with his ring and we are sure he will be looking to use his experience to have a great shot of going all the way.

Ivey in the House

Not deterred from recently busting out of the $50,000 Poker Players Championship, Phil Ivey has late registered this event, taking his seat in the gold section of the Brasilia Room.
