We missed the preflop action, but Alfred Mottur got his short stack in against Nick Jivkov, and Mottur was in great shape when the cards were turned up.
Mottur:
Jivkov:
The flop came down , flipping Jivkov's outs from the three remaining jacks to the three remaining queens. The on the turn gave Mottur a flush draw but changed nothing, as Jivkov was still looking for one of the three remaining queens, and one of those, the , came on the river. Mottur took the beat in stride, saying "it happens" before heading to the rail, while Jivkov collected the chips, upping his stack to 160,000
It has been a rough level for John Eames, who has gone from the big stack to one of the smaller stacks remaining.
In a recent hand, Eames and Keanu Tabali got into a preflop raising war. We did not catch the exact order of action, however, when the smoke settled, Tabali was all in for 99,000 against Eames.
Tabali:
Eames:
It was a cooler for Eames, who would need lots of help going into the flop.
The board ran dry for Eames as it came and Tabali doubled through.
Tabali is up to 200,000 while Eames has dropped to 100,000.
John Juanda was down to just 23,000 earlier in the level but two doubles in a row has Juanda right back in this. Action started with Juanda in early position, and he raised pot to 21,000. It folded around to Tommy Vedes, and he put in a raise to 66,000, enough to put Juanda all in. Everyone else folded, and Juanda made the call.
Juanda:
Vedes:
The flop came down , and Vedes, who already seemed resigned to his fate of losing the hand, begrudgingly said "nice hand". After the hit the turn, giving Juanda a set, Juanda said "now it's a nice hand", not realizing that Vedes had picked up the nut flush draw. Despite picking up those outs, Vedes bricked the river, as it came the , and Juanda scooped the pot to get to 108,000, while Vedes dropped below 70,000.
John Juanda is hanging on by a thread...but he is hanging on tightly.
In a recent hand, action folded around to Juanda in the small blind. Juanda raised to 14,000 and Nam Le decided to flat from the big.
The flop came and Juanda checked. Le didn't take long to put Juanda all in for his remaining 23,000. Juanda dejectedly mucked.
The very next hand, action folded around to Juanda on the button and he raised pot. Nick Jivkov put Juanda all in from the big blind and Juanda called.
Juanda:
Jivkov:
"There are those aces he's been waiting for!" tablemate Negreanu said.
The board ran out and Juanda doubled up.
Juanda is sitting on 50,000 now, but is still very much short-stacked.
Daniel Negreanu raised under the gun to 14,000, and Tommy Vedes defended his big blind. The flop came down , and Vedes checked to Negreanu, who bet 16,000. Vedes tanked for about a minute, before sliding in a check raise to 54,000 total. Negreanu thought for just a few moments before moving all in for 80,000, and Vedes made the call.
Negreanu:
Vedes:
Vedes was in a world of hurt, and would need to pair up again to knock Kid Poker off. However, the turn and river both came sixes, and Negreanu scooped the pot to get up to 180,000, while Vedes drops to 100,000.
Clayton's Mozdzen's dinner won't taste quite as good, as he was eliminated on the last hand before the break. It was folded around to Nick Jivkov, who raised it to 8,500. Mozden was in the big blind, and he raised pot. Jivkov put him all in, and Mozdzen made the call. The cards were tabled, and Jivkov was well out in front.
Jivkov:
Mozdzen:
The flop almost hit Mozdzen, coming down . The turn was an action card, the , giving Jivkov a flush draw, but Mozdzen a straight draw. The river was a dud though, the , and Jivkov upped his stack to 115,000 just before dinner, while Mozdzen was sent packing in 23rd.
