Hugh Henderson Eliminated in 3rd Place ($322,866)

Hugh Henderson - 3rd place
Hugh Henderson - 3rd place

Neil Willerson opened from the button and Hugh Henderson immediately went all in from the small blind for his remaining stack. It was folded back to Willerson, who made the call to put Henderson at risk.

Henderson: {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}
Willerson: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Henderson was behind, and the {2-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{7-Clubs} board sealed the deal for Henderson, who was sent to the rail in 3rd place.

Mefodichev Has Better Two Pair

In a limped pot preflop Vladimir Mefodichev fired {8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Neil Willerson raised to 300,000. Mefodichev called and the {7-Spades} turned. Mefodichev then check-called a bet of 450,000 allowing the {3-Hearts} to river. It went check-check and Willerson showed {5-Clubs}{4-Spades} for two pair but Mefodichev tabled {7-}{5-} for a better two pair.

This pot brings Mefodichev over the 10-million chip mark.

...Aaand Willerson Doubles Back Through Henderson

Neil Willerson opened to 250,000 on the button and Hugh Henderson three-bet to 1,050,000 from the small blind. It was folded back to Willerson, who announced he was all in after some thought. Henderson quickly called and hands were revealed.

Willerson: {A-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Henderson: {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Willerson was ahead, but there was a decent chance the pot would be chopped. However, the {K-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Spades} board meant that Willerson's eight-kicker played and he doubled back through Henderson.

...And Henderson Doubles Right Back

Neil Willerson opened to 225,000 on the button and Hugh Henderson raised to 525,000. It folded back to Willerson and he called.

{Q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{4-Spades} was the flop and Henderson moved all in for 1,255,000. Willerson called and showed {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for middle pair. Henderson triumphantly tabled {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} and was ahead in the hand. The {Q-Hearts} turned and the {8-Clubs} rivered, allowing Henderson to double right back up through Willerson.

Willerson Doubles Through Henderson

Hugh Henderson called on the button and Vladimir Mefodichev completed from the small. Neil Willerson raised to 375,00 and Henderson called. Mefodichev got out of the way and the two were heads up to a flop of {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts}.

Willerson announced all in and Henderson snap-called just as fast. Willerson rolled his eyes and showed {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for king-high. Henderson showed {6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a heart draw and Willerson was astounded to find that he was actually ahead.

The turn was the {K-Spades} pairing Willerson's king and eliminating any pair outs for Henderson. Henderson was in search of a heart on the river but alas, fifth street brought the {3-Clubs} and Henderson shipped a majority of his stack across the table.

Mefodichev Gets Best of Henderson in Back-to-Back Hands

In the first hand, Hugh Henderson opened to 275,000 from the small blind and was called by Vladimir Mefodichev in the big blind.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts} and Henderson led out for 300,000. Mefodichev made the call to see a turn, which brought the {4-Diamonds}. Henderson led out again - this time for 500,000 and Mefodichev again called.

Both players checked on the {9-Hearts} river. Mefodichev tabled {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for a missed king-high flush draw, while Henderson tabled {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a queen-high missed flush draw, which meant Mefodichev scooped the pot.

In the very next hand, Henderson opened for 275,000 on the button and was three-bet by Mefodichev in the small blind to 775,000. It was folded back to Henderson, who made the call.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Mefodichev led out for 800,000, which Henderson called.

The turn brought the {A-Diamonds} and, undeterred, Mefodichev led out for 1.2 million, sending Henderson deep into the tank. Henderson decided to fold after about two minutes and Mefodichev scooped the pot.

Mefodichev is back up to 9 million, while Henderson has slipped to 2,850,000.

Mefodichev Takes First Hand Back From Break

Neil Willerson opened to 240,000 from the button and Vladimir Mefodichev called from the big blind.

The flop was {3-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Mefodichev quickled tapped the table. Willerson continued for 360,000 and Mefodichev called. It went check-check on the {A-Clubs} turn and the {3-Hearts} fell on fifth. Mefodichev bet out 800,000 and Willerson sent his hand sailing into the muck.
