So Feeling Good, Peters Less So

We came upon a blind-vs.-blind confrontation at a moment when Henry So had 2,300 sitting in front of him in the big blind, then David Peters was raising all in for 11,150 total from the small blind. So spent a while counting out chips and pondering the decision, then finally said "I call," standing up as he did.

Peters showed {10-Clubs}{10-Spades} and So {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}. The flop came {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, pairing So, and after the {5-Spades} turn and {9-Hearts} river, Peters was eliminated.

Cheung Ousts Petersen

Following an opening raise from middle position to 600, it folded around to Robert Cheung on the button who reraised to 1,675. The action was on Mickey Petersen in the small blind, who sat quietly for a moment, then four-bet to 2,975. The big blind folded, as did the original raiser, and Cheung called right away.

The flop came {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Petersen led for 2,525, and Cheung hesitated just a few seconds before calling. The turn brought the {4-Diamonds} and a check from Petersen. Cheung gathered some chips and fired a bet of 2,700, and again Petersen sat quietly and motionless for several seconds before acting. Finally he reraised all in, and Cheung quickly called.

Petersen showed {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds} while Cheung turned over {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} for a flopped set. The river was the {Q-Diamonds}, and Petersen told Cheung "good hand" before departing.

Deal the Cards

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

Players have returned and cards are back in the air.

There are 1,041 players returning from the dinner break, which means nearly two-thirds of those who began the event have already busted. That also means almost all of the players are now in the Brasilia room, with only a dozen or so tables' worth still over in the Amazon.

The plan will be to play five more one-hour levels tonight. A chat with the tourney director during the break revealed they anticipate we'll be ending somewhere in the 300s tonight — i.e., a bit shy of the money bubble which will burst when we reach 297 players left. We shall see.
