Hachem's Full House Busts Venneri

From under the gun, Joe Hachem raised to 5,000. Play folded to Antonino Venneri in the small blind and he reraised all in for 23,700. After getting a count and thinking for a moment or two, Hachem made the call.

Hachem turned up the {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and Venneri the {A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. "Really?" said Hachem when he was he was dominated.

The flop, turn and river ran out in Hachem's favor, though, as the {K-Hearts}{4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} came to give him a full house. Venneri was eliminated and Hachem climbed to 175,000 in chips.

Mercier Involved in Two Before Break

These two hands occurred over at Table 439 just before the break and both involved Jason Mercier.

On the first hand of the two, Mercier opened with a raise to 4,800 from the cutoff seat and received a call from Layne Flack in the big blind. The two players were then presented with a {K-Spades}{9-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop and Flack checked. Mercier slid forward 3,700 and Flack called.

The turn card was the {6-Hearts} and added a third heart to the board. After Flack checked, Mercier bet 11,300. Flack called again.

The river card was the {6-Clubs} and paired the board. Flack played with some chips, then checked. Mercier bet 28,500 and Flack made the call.

Mercier turned up the {K-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a king-high flush and Flack mucked his hand.

Before Mercier could stack up all of his chips, he was right back to firing in a raise from the hijack seat on the next hand. He made it 4,800 to go and David Sindelar three-bet to 13,500 from the cutoff seat. Action folded back to Mercier and he called.

The flop came down {K-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Mercier checked. Sindelar bet 14,400 and Mercier made the call.

Both players checked the {2-Clubs} on the turn before the {2-Spades} paired the board on the river. Mercier checked and Sindelar bet 33,000. Mercier tanked for a couple of minutes and then called.

Sindelar turned over the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and Mercier mucked his hand.

Haralabos Voulgaris was sweating the action and said, "Value town... population one," after the hand.
