Alioto Takes Three Quarters Off Lindgren

We arrived at Table 366 with Dario Alioto having his short stack all in preflop against Erick Lindgren. Here is how the two player's cards looked.

Lindgren: {a-Clubs}{2-Spades}{q-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Alioto: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

By the time the {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs} board had run out, Alioto and Lindrgen were chopping up the low half of the pot, while Alioto's pair of sixes was enough for the high end of the pot.

Early One for Scotty, Baby!

With around 9,000 in the pot and a flop of {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, Scotty Nguyen checked from early position and his sole opponent, Dennis Meisinger, bet 2,800 from the hijack. When action was back on Nguyen, he announced, "Raise pot, baby."

As the dealer tried to calculate the pot, Meisinger said, "It's alright," and tossed his hand to the muck.

Table Fun

Level 9 : 400/800, 0 ante

The table directly in front of the media desk is already giving us quite the laugh, with Mike Matusow needling Allen Kessler. If the needling is to continue though, Kessler will have to get to work, with his short chip stack in need of some help. Matusow just asked Kessler, "Are you playing the $1K today?"

Here is who the table also features.

  • Humberto Brenes
  • Allen Kessler
  • Nick Jivkov
  • Roman Verenko (chip leader)
  • Mike Matusow

Go, Go, Go

The cards are in the air here on Day 2 of Event 58. We are plenty of players away from the money, so strap yourselves in for a long ride. There will be 10 levels played today.

Time For Day 2 of Event 58; Verenko in Control

Scotty Nguyen is still in contention here on Day 2
Scotty Nguyen is still in contention here on Day 2

Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino for continued coverage of Event 58: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better here at the 2012 World Series of Poker. Today will see Day 2 kick into full gear, with 173 players still in the running for the gold bracelet and the $330,277 first-place prize.

Starting the day with the most chips is Roman Verenko as he managed to bag up an impressive 83,100 last night. The likes of Loren Klein and Yuval Bronshtein aren't far behind Vorenko, starting the day with enough chips to scare.

Also returning to the felt today with plenty of chips are Amnon Filippi, Erick Lindgren, Scotty Nguyen and Jennifer Tilly. David "ODB" Baker, Mike Matusow and Humberto Brenes don't have as many chips as these players, but are still alive and in with a fighting chance.

Huck Seed, Dario Alioto and Allen Kessler are some of the players who will start Day 2 with a short stack, and as such will need to get busy early. Faring much better than these guys and also returning for today's action is last year's Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better champion, Nick Binger.

Of the returning players today, just 54 of them will go home with any money for their time, with the money bubble expected to burst some time in the late afternoon. From there we will play down to as close to a final table as we can get. It all begins at 2:00 PM and PokerNews will be here all day long providing you with all the live coverage.
