When Nick Binger won his bracelet in this form of poker last year, he took home a very nice $397,073 - a little more than what today's event will pay the eventual champion. If Binger is able to win this event event, he would join the elite club of players with 2 World Series of Poker gold bracelets and see his lifetime tournament winnings soar past $2.5 million. Well, its so far so good for Binger, managing to see his stack increase to around 30,000.
We recently watched Binger take down a hand against one opponent. It was a raised pot that saw Binger and this player take to a flop. Binger led for 3,000 her and his opponent called. When the hit the turn, Binger would take his time before betting 5,000. That was enough to see his opponent's cards into the muck as Binger raked in a few chips.
Folded to David "ODB" Baker on the button, he raised it up to 2,500. Ray Henson called out of the small blind and the dealer spread out a flop. Henson and Baker both checked here, just as they did on the turn and the river. At showdown, Henson tabled , which was enough to send Baker's cards into the muck.
We just watched Roman Verenko rake in another small pot against one opponent. We arrived at the hand in question with a board showing and with Verenko and his opponent both committing 3,000 each. The was the final card to be dealt on the board and Verenko's opponent checked. Verenko then bet 10,000 - just shy of a pot-sized bet. This was too much for Verenko's opponent as Verenko raked in the pot to see his stack increase well over 100,000.
We're not sure of the betting action, but we do know that Felicia Johnico got her stack of 13,200 all in preflop from the cutoff and was up against Matt Wood in the hijack.
Showdown
Wood
Johnico
The flop gave Wood two pair, but the turn hit Johnico by giving her a wheel. The river changed nothing and Johnico doubled to 27,000.
